Girl in heat

I have 3 cats, boycat is neutered, girlcat and the furry terrorist (f) are not.
All 3 are shut in kitchen overnight due to TFT opening bedroom doors during night and generally causing havoc.
Girlcat is in heat, she keeps presenting to boycat who is doing a lot of beck biting despite the lack of danglers.
Every so often girlcat takes offence and gets very arsey with him, hissing and screeching at him.
My concern is if they're shut in the kitchen all night there's no escape from each other.
So should I let girlcat out and possibly suffer her incessant meowing all night, should I let boycat out so that he's safe from her confusing advances or should I just leave them all be in the kitchen?

Sorry this is much longer than I thought it would be!

Let boy cat out, lock girl cat in.

Wear ear plugs.

Give boy cat ear plugs.

When is she being spayed?

i think the best solution till you can get her neutered is to take boy cat out iof the kitchen and leave the female ones in the kitchen where hopefully you will not hear her yowling all night and seriously get the girls done problem solved simples lol

Haha I like the ear plugs suggestion.
Not booked in at the mo but DH is on leave from work for 6 weeks from mid December so sometime while he's off so that he can supervise everyone while I'm at work

Best to get them booked in for mid December then. (Maybe give them a phone tomorrow.) Things can get a bit approximate everywhere towards the end of the year and while there are unlikely to be complications, it's Sod's Law that if you leave it till the last operating day before the holidays, the risk factor goes up. (You'd still have OOH vet cover of course but I don't even like to imagine what their costs might be over Xmas.)

I wouldn't leave it another month personally. Cats in heat get very stressed. They are also likely to try to escape by any means possible.

I don't see why supervision is really necessary. Just get them booked in. Drop them off at the vets in the morning and collect in the evening. You really don't need to have anyone at home.

I agree with the cat neuterer I often suggest to people in your situation to have the Op on the Friday so you are home the first two days. Just remember cats cycle every three weeks so this can happen twice more before mid December plus you say TFT has not been done either convent effect could make them cycle together.

cozietoesie · 21/11/2013 07:52

I didn't know cats had convent effect. Interesting.

Thanks for the advice all Smile

Cozie all female animals can have the convent effect.

cozietoesie · 21/11/2013 11:14

Every day's a school day, eh?

Your challenge in life should be to learn three new things every single day is my motto.

cozietoesie · 21/11/2013 11:32

And a good one, also.
