Has she ran away?

I had 2 cats from the RSPCA about 2 months ago, they are lovely, they didnt know each other but are sort of tolerating one another (M&F) the male cat is about 6 months old and will be at the female all the time wanting to play, she tolerates it up to a point then has a scream at him, most of the time this puts a stop to it, if not I throw him out to give her some peace. Yesterday, she was let out after being inside with him all day, a bit of an error normally I seperate them and put one out in the day and one out at night just to be on the safe side, anyway, back to my story, she was let out at 8pm and is still not home, when do I put posters up and assume she is lost, is this normal, or has she ran away from home as she is fed up of the kitten? These are my first cats I have always had dogs before.

Do you have a cat flap? Have you been out shaking the crunchies box and calling her? Have you asked neighbours to check sheds/garages/cars?
I'm wondering why on earth the bloody RSPCA gave you two unbonded cats of such different ages tbh Hmm it really does sound like the female is unhappy being in a multicat household.
I hope you find her soon, when you do keep her in and get some feliway diffusers and talk to your vet about bonding cats.
Also, please don't put any cat out at night, it's getting below freezing and they're likely to seek shelter in warm car bonnets, also they are not hi-vis and can't be seen on roads in the dark!
Best of luck.

No cat flap, thankyou for your comments, didnt really think about the cats being out at night as a problem, I thought that is what everyone did, I can seperate them in the house it is big enough so can keep them both in at night easily. They get on most the time she just gets pissed off with him but I was told she will bring him in to line eventually, maybe not, i will go see the neighbours if she is not home when I get in later, thanks.

That's alright, ours have access outside at night through a cat flap which is much safer as they can get back if they're cold. Having any new pet is a steep learning curve, I'm keeping my fingers crossed your little kitty comes home and tells you all about her big adventure!

Really bad news, I went round all the neighbours and my beloved Lola had been found in the early hours having been ran over, she was taken by the neighbour, who happened to be a vet to work with her. I am absolutely devastated, but take heed about your advice on not putting them out at night.:(

So sorry to hear that.

Does your kitten seem to be OK on his own?

happycrimblechuckie · 20/11/2013 19:48

He is meowing a lot and seems to miss her, he is having extra cuddles.
