cuckoo cats

Hoping someone can give me some advice on 2 cuckoo cats that have adopted me, sorry if this is a bit long.

We have 3 cats, all from the same litter, they are 6 yr old. A few months ago we noticed 2 cats, who are obviously brothers, hanging around in our garden. As it was summer and we kept our door open they soon started coming in and finishing off our cats food. Soon it got to the stage where they never left our garden and as they were obviously very hungry we wondered if they had been abandoned, we live in an area with a high forces population. We made some progress with finding their owners, too long to go into, but with no real success so we decided to keep them.

The problem is that one of them and one of our cats has taken a total dislike to each other and will stalk each other with growling and hissing often leading to chasing each other and full on fighting.

I dont really want to get rid of the new cat as I dont want to split him and his brother but he is obviously upsetting my cat and making him very distressed.

Has anyone got any ideas on how we can get these two to live in harmony with each other? Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I take it the newcomers are neutered? Have you tried Feliway?

The thing I've found has a remarkable effect in situations like this is to get a vet to give you Ovarid to give to the aggressor. (A very small and ever decreasing dose over about 10 weeks). However as this is essentially a steroid/female hormone vets are not keen to give it. I've a feeling there may even be some sort of vet law against it (perhaps a vet can comment?). However if you can get it it's like a miracle cure.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, all cats have been neutered. The 2 newcomers originally were homed by the cats protection and their chips were still registered to them. The lady I spoke to there did recommend something which may have been what you mention but I didn't quite catch what she said. Is it taken orally or is it drops that is put on bedding?

Feliway is a plug-in diffuser and is available online, in vets, in chemists, in Pets at Home etc.

Ovarid is a tablet, but I think it's unlikely you'll get a vet to give you that.
