Getting a kitten today - a few questions

As the title suggests we are picking up our new kitten today from local CPL. She'd been abandoned with her brother and they think she's about 16wks now.

I've done the kitten thing twice before in the past but not for about ten yrs and have had two children inbetween so have pretty much forgotten what I need to do and am now having a mini panic!

She's been flea treated and wormed, I've checked what they're feeding her and have got the same brand in (Royal Canin -they are giving her adult but I have bought kitten - is that ok?) Have also bought some kitten pouches but plan to move onto Butchers Choice eventually.

We've got feeding bowls, litter tray, bed, a gazzilion ping pong balls, dangly thing on a stick etc

What shall I do with her at night? I don't want her in bedrooms but don't want to shut her in the kitchen really as it's jam packed and far too interesting for a kitten! Bedroom doors are not closed at night and kids are in and out to our bed the loo so I can't let her roam hall/stairs/landing. Would it be ok to shut her in downstairs cloak? It's warm, i would remove loo brush etc and put litter, bed and food/water in. Or is that mad? Will she miss her brother? Does she need a substitute to cuddle?

Soooooo excited! She's black and white and scrummy!

She's not been neutered yet obvs but we'll be given a voucher to cover the cost.

Well done for taking a lovely black and white rescue kit.

And calm down! Cats are pretty easy, really and it sounds as if you've covered all the bases.

You lucky thing! Our kittens are now chunky felines who go out on the prowl every day Envy.

When we got them they were so tiny they couldn't get up the stairs and slept pretty much all day and night so stayed downstairs cuddled up together. By the end of the week they'd worked out how to climb stairs and we closed the dc's doors to keep them off their beds at night - and it was an open plan house so the few doors we had were always open.

I can tell.

She'll be fine. Basically with kits, get the food and litter tray ready then see how it goes according to her character, giving her space and quiet to find herself.

That would mean keeping the DCs under control- your main job, I think.

PS

I always have my boys sleeping in bed with us so I'm not a good person to comment on your possible night time arrangements.

a downstairs cloakroom sounds ideal like a little house for her and yes maybe put a soft toy like a teddy bear in her bed for her. some kittens need one some dont and generally speaking at 16 weeks she wont be mega bonded with her brother so will probably settle in quite quickly
