Please help - really worried I've poisoned us all

Hi, my cat has developed resistance to Frontline and over the last 2/3 days I've seen more and more fleas around the house.

I saw a recommendation for flea bombs and bought a Bob Martin one which I just set off in dd1's room (where I saw most of them). It was so smoky and strong I started to worry. The label said to remove people and animals from the site of the bombing - which I took to mean the room. But I'm now seeing things that recommend leaving the house entirely for hours on end.

If we stay here will we be poisoned? Should I take us all elsewhere? I've opened all the windows and thrown the bomb out after 10 mins. What would you recommend?

Please can anyone advise?

Looking at the packaging again, it does just say 'the room'. I'm really concerned at how strong it is though and I feel a bit woozy (could just be panic though). Wondering if I ought to decamp to dm's overnight.

I'm sure if the door to the room is closed there is no need to leave the house. This is something I have zero knowledge about though I'm afraid.

Thanks, cat neuterer, I hope you're right. Really worried that the dds (downstairs with me) might have breathed too much of it in as the smoky smell is all over the upper floor of the house Sad.

Anyone else around to advise? Dds are asleep on the sofa/armchair and I'm still worried they're breathing in harmful chemicals.

I feel sick but I think it's more worry than anything else.

Can't find any definitive advice online but lots of people saying they would go out for the day - the product instructions didn't say it was necessary though.

If it were that dangerous there would be warnings all over the packet in huge letters. Manufacturers are so scared of being sued they warn about the most ridiculous of things. If it were necessary to get out of the house it would definitely say so on the packet. Similarly if the product was any major risk to human health they wouldn't be allowed to sell it. (Again - I'm just assuming - no actual knowledge at all)

Leaving the room should be just fine.

Your cats probably aren;t resistant to frontline (I thought mine were too and got some excellent advice on it from our local pet shop)

Its mild so fleas have exploded - my poor cats are infested too.

You need to deflea the house one day - use a spray which kills eggs as well as fleas and spray everyone your cats sit - pay particular attention to darker places (under beds) in creases of chairs and stair carpets as fleas lay their eggs in dark places. SPray everything you can and wash bedding that the cats sit on.

Then spray the cats next day so that when fleas hop off they should be killed by the room spray. Otherwise what happens is that fleas hop off cats when you drop them - hide in the carpets until drops stop working then hop back on again.

At least thats my understanding from pet shop man and to be fair it does work. You must also do this once a month from early spring until it gets really chilly.

I know I'm probably overreacting. I'm so tired and stressed from the fleas and various other things, I feel close to hysteria!

But of course you're right. I'll try and calm the fuck down Grin.

Thanks, Kewcumber - I went to the pet shop today and got spray as well as the alarming bomb, so I'll have a go at that tomorrow.

Have been washing everything all day today, still got several loads to do tomorrow. But I will beat this. sob.

Indorex spray is good we have used that for the house when we were infested. I get stronghold for the cats now, seems better than frontline.
