Are you keeping your cats in after dark?

Had our first few bonfire night bangs last night and am now reluctant to let the mogs out after dark or ever again after some of the comments elsewhere on MN today.

What's everyone else doing?

Ahh. I love hedgehogs. Never seem to see any round here. Think our trio of whiskered reprobates puts them off.

Miine are in every night. I seriously can't go to bed if they're not in. (well there has been the odd occasion with winter boy when I've had to but I've not slept). DH thinks I'm mad wanting them in every night.

On the odd occasions Winter boy refuses to come in, I either run out and nab him or I have no option but to go to bed with a lack of sleep - but he's soon yowling to come in anyway so I end up getting up to let him in (unless he's in a fowl mood and in that case will sleep on the porch.)

I still remember that very early morning that I saw a young fox mauling something in the middle of the well-lit street - after some pretty horrendous noises had made me get up. And one or two other young foxes hanging around as well. I'm guessing a litter where Mum had moved out and they were fending for themselves but as a group still.

Everyone here was very kind, trying to reassure me that it was probably eg some rubbish they'd got hold of - but they weren't here. And you just don't see cats around here any more whereas a few years back they were everywhere.

No way would I allow a cat out at night any more. That was too much.

Oh cozie that's awful Sad.

I'm worried about a stray cat that hangs around our village. I fed him last night but it absolutely chucked it down in the early hours. Thinking of getting him an outdoor house. I'd let him in but my three hate him.

Secretcat goes out at night but we are very rural, mostly fields around and no fireworks even on bonfire night.
There are a lot of cats round here though. I think they own the territory in shifts like the ones in that programme where they tagged them.
My friend adopted a stray, he was known as spare cat, but he was getting fatter and fatter and was clearly being fed elsewhere.

Keep my girl in all night, I wouldn't be able to sleep in she wasn't in. I've only let her out at night once and she went missing for 5 days so never again!

I let her out first thing and she stays out until teatime - she usually bobs back in for food/snuggle a couple of times during that time.

Mimi and Lulu stay in from dark to dawn, more for protection of local wildlife than anything else. ( They fact that they keep my central heating bill down is a plus, they are draped over me now and I'm baking!)

My regular fox visitors take little notice of M and L when they meet; M and L are not much interested in them, either. They just eye each other up, sometimes have a little sniff and then go about their business.
