I feel bloody awful with regards to cat food

My cats are 7 months and 18 months. I've been feeding them whiskers dry and wet food but I feel bloody awful because I've read it's really bad for them?

As they've been on it since I've had them is there a way I can wean them on to another brand without causing upset? Also what brand would you suggest is a decent one to buy?

But maybe fair to say that they didn't usually live as long as today's cats do, issey?

And oh goodness, I remember Kit E Kat. Horrible bright pink with bits in it sticking out and actual round fish bones. (The spine joints etc.) Is it still made?

cozie yes i remember how rank it smelled but it looks totally different now and yes kit e cat is still on the market i wouldnt know how good or bad it is now as i dont buy it, just for a change of flavour i feed my cats asda tiger fish in jelly tins and have just had a look at the ingredients surprisingly no cereal and high fish so sometimes supermarket isnt that bad after all

I remember kitekat. Made the fridge stink. No bones so probably a later version. Still, the sound of a fork on a tin was a good way of rounding up all neighbourhood cats. Equivalent of a dog whistle.

They probably squidge it around and put colouring in nowadays to make it look better for the humans - like most cat foods. I doubt the cats care about the look of the stuff but their owners certainly do.

OK, tcn, but I thought everyone knew that you were not supposed to feed cats too much dry food. We never did. The OP mentions both wet and dry food. Our cat had mostly wet food, always Whiskas.

Eurochick. Yes that's right. I think wet tends to be better than dry. Although some vets promote dry as it helps with teeth. But constant access to dry food is certainly linked to obesity. Really all I've said on this thread is avoid cheap dry food and if you're going to feed dry, then go for the better quality stuff.
