Just wondering if anyone more knowledgeable can offer some advice. Over the past couple of days my boy cat has been pooing a lot - its soft but not watery diarrhoea, and he keeps leaving little bits of poo behind him when he's wandering about, which is annoying but not really his fault. He's also been vomiting, probably four or five times over two days.
He doesn't seem terribly poorly, he's been sleeping a lot but then he does anyway, and he's still eating and coming for cuddles. Doesn't seem too fussed about going outside, when previously he used to cry at the door, but we've had a lot of rain so could be that. He also does have form for wolfing his food down too fast and then throwing it back up.
I'm wondering whether he might have eaten something he shouldn't have? We have recently moved to a house with a garden, so I let the cats out every day now whereas it was quite a rare treat before when we lived in a flat. We've also been deep cleaning and decorating, so I suppose it's possible he could have walked over something nasty and then ingested it. If it was serious would he be more poorly than he is? My girl cat is fine and they sleep together and clean each other and share bowls etc, so I dont think he's caught anything infectious. I'm really hoping it's nothing like cancer/kidneys etc since he's only 3!
Any ideas? Will I have to take him to the vet? DP has just been made redundant and I'm on maternity leave so would like to avoid vet fees if possible, but we do have insurance.
