fireworks

I am away the first weekend in November and I just realised there is prob going to be a few fireworks going off.
A friend usually comes in to feed cheesyCat and check she is ok (although she is always out so friend just checks that food has been consumed).
She has only been living with me since May so i don't know how she reacts to fireworks. do you think she will be ok with my usual arrangement or am i over thinking??

So long as she can get in ok and stay inside if freaked out, she should be ok.

Does she have unfettered access to outside?

If you can get her in somewhere, I'd board her - or keep her inside for that weekend you're away.

I've seen several real difficulties/tragedies with animals at fireworks time in the past - although it does rather depend on your location as to how long the 'season' will be and whether you're likely to have groups of youngsters misbehaving with fireworks nearby.

Just my own view and others may well disagree.

I'd board under the circumstances, apart from people doing the cruelest things to cats with fireworks the sound might frighten her, if she bolts into unfamiliar territory you've got a lost cat.

I think that's my main concern - being spooked and bolting. Even The Lodger, that most phlegmatic of cats, was deeply unsettled by bangs and that was when he was inside the house because we kept the animals in of an evening.

Difficult to judge dates, though. Is the 5th near a weekend, will it be raining, do you live near some open ground where people might go etc etc........

I am really suburban so houses and gardens. the park isn't very close and I don't think they have a display that weekend.
I think I am going to have to board her somewhere. don't want her running off or someone being unkind to her... our cheap weekend away is no longer so cheap!

If finances might be tight or you couldn't get her into a good cattery at short notice, could you keep her in over that weekend - with your friend coming in to feed her/clear her tray etc ?

I might do that. Good cattery close by is going to cost £42!
going to get my friend to lock her in from Saturday afternoon with 2 trays.
