I'm assuming she's had her shots but has she been neutered yet? (If not, she's getting to the age when she might suddenly whoosh over the wall to go and party.) I'd be careful until she's been neutered.

yes certainly she should be out and exploring the house she will love it my foster kits are this age and only go in thier pen at night time when i go to bed because i dont want them ramping up and down stairs all night

Just put away, temporarily, anything breakable that you wouldn't want to lose.

She should be allowed all around the house. Just lock rooms that are dangerous (kitchen maybe, and baby room). Don't leave her in one room, it's mean :(

Our kitten is allowed free reign of the house as long as we are around but when we go out I tend to shut the bathroom doors and also the lounge (as we caught her licking the coals in the fire once Shock).

My 3 month old kitten has the run of the house, he would go ballistic if I shut him in one room

I do try to keep the toilet seat down though as he is quite inquisitive and I wouldn't want him to fall in Shock

Other risky areas likewise shut away or blocked off

My kittens had the run of the whole house straight away, we got them at 8 weeks. They used to just fall asleep all over the place so we'd fetch them to sit with us in the evening.
They couldn't get up the stairs for a few days though - which was very cute, but now they wake me up in the night thundering up and down.

I agree with pp, loo seat down, watch out for candles/gas fire/gas cooker and enjoy.

Half the fun is watching them explore new things.

Its not mean if you are just settling your new kitty in or if you have to do slow introductions to other resident cats. Op has only had kitty since Saturday so only 4 days ago. Sometimes too much too soon can be a bit overwhelming for some cats especially if they are frightened but each cat/kitten is different.
One young cat we took in temporarily, camped out behind our washing machine for 2 days as he was totally freaked out. when we did eventually get him out we confined him to our bedroom for a good few days until we felt he had settled a bit more and he was fine after that.

Anyway back to you op, If you feel that your kitten is ready to start exploring then let her go, just follow the advice already given! Smile
