Cat pooing in neighbours garden.

Hi. This is my first op (although long time lurker). I have two cats who go out but don't roam too far. They have a litter tray in the house which they use when they are in. The cats are never out if we are not at home.

The problem I have is that we moved home a few months ago and now I am getting regular complaints from neighbours about the cats pooing in their gardens. They have done it before but I've never had so many complaints.

I really don't know what to do because to refuse to let them out would be unfair on them but if they continue to do this I am worried we will make enemies of our neighbours. I really don't want to re home them ( been with us for 10
years) but I'm not sure I see any other alternative. I have told neighbours to put pepper down and to throw water on them if they catch them at it but I'm at a loss as to what to do if it continues.

Please help. These are much loved pets. TIA.

returning it is one thing but flinging it over knowing she had guests and for it to land amongst them is a bit beyond the pale Artic.

It must be annoying when a cat poos in your garden, but there are many annoying things in society.

No way would I throw it over the fence so that it almost hits neighbours and guests - that's just appalling behaviour.

I told her that was cat poo in the garden and she asked me to fling it over. Having poo fling through the air for her guests to see is obviously preferable to removing it herself.

Sparklingbrook · 08/10/2013 13:00

It is isn't it Life? If I saw someone let their dog poo and not pick it up I wouldn't throw it at them. Confused

Sparklingbrook · 08/10/2013 13:01

You could have flung it over at a different time Artic. i think you are just trying to wind her up because she wouldn't come and get it.

Grennie · 08/10/2013 13:03

Yes, it was deliberately provacative. And frankly, doesnt reflect well on you.

LifeIsBetterInFlipFlops · 08/10/2013 13:03

Nope, not even if it was in my garden!

TheArticFunky · 08/10/2013 13:04

It didn't almost hit anyone. I said amongst her guests but that was a slight exaggeration. The guests were on the patio and the poo was flung down the garden it's a small garden so they would have still seen it.

My children wanted to play in the garden and I have no intention of removing it with my hands so had no choice.

My neighbour obviously doesn't find it repulsive because if she did she would have collected it herself. She must think it is normal for her guests to witness this.

Grennie · 08/10/2013 13:05

Your neighbour will just have said something to her guests about her mad neighbour.

Sparklingbrook · 08/10/2013 13:06

Oh so it didn't 'land amongst the guests' then? They probably didn't even notice.

I didn't throw it at anyone. I threw it in her garden. When her cat started littering everywhere I told her it was a problem and gave her the option of removing it. I was not the first neighbour to complain. She declined as I explained earlier. I said that there I was not prepared to touch it and would shovel it over. She said that it was only cat poo and didn't understand my revulsion but accepted the shovelling arrangement.

When she had guests I asked for a quick word over the fence pointed out the poo and asked her if she wanted to remove it she said no just fling it over. So I did.

To be honest her cat was a nightmare when she first got it because it was going in people's kitchens and pooing (not mine thankfully) so I think my suggestion of shovelling was tame in comparison to some people's reactions.

It doesn't really come in our garden anymore so not the huge problem that it used to be.

No bun fight here, not mud slinging but poo flinging. MN can feel like a surreal other world. The poo flinging is disgusting but I'm amused at myself having a discussion about it.

TheArticFunky · 08/10/2013 13:13

No they did notice Sparking but it wasn't in danger of landing in their wine or anything like that.

Sparklingbrook · 08/10/2013 13:14

Sounds like her poor cat is ill. Pooing in other folk's houses isn't normal.

TheArticFunky · 08/10/2013 13:15

I don't think it was ill but she said it had some sort of attachment issues. It only went into other people's houses when she first got it.
