Cat hair in the washing machine

My DM has come to stay and for reasons known only to herself has decided to wash her catbed in my machine, with other items. Confused

They are now coated with hair as is the machine. As you can tell, I am not a pet owner! What is the best way to sort the machine out? Rinse/wash whilst empty? Put an old duster in to pick up hair?

Any ideas please, please, please!!!

Thank you Thanks

If truly badly covered, I'd wash something that will pick up hair (has your DM got anything like polyester or fleecy trousers/sweater ?) and then run a second and 'maintenance' wash as normal ie empty, hot and with vinegar or washing soda.

The washing should go on a gentle heat in a tumble dryer if you have one - that will remove cat hairs.

Oh - and each time the load finishes (and now for the last one that your DM did) check the inner side of the rubber water baffle. Lots of gunk collects there.

It's no biggie - apart from ensuring no hairs on dark work or school clothes etc.

Thank you! First wash on Smile

Was tempted to get all her clothes and use them but picked an old fleece of mine instead!

I would be inclined to dry everything outdoors, give it a good shake, go over it all with a sticky brush & re-launder, line dry, then tumble

my cats had a fleece blanket which sucked the fur off them, & that's approx how I dealt with that, & it worked. (I didn't put other stuff in with it though Hmm)

then I sent it to Oxfam & their chair just has towels on it now Grin
