Have just acquired two rescue kittens. They were flea treated before we took them home a month ago and they are 6 months old so now out and about in the garden, in an urban area with lots of other cats and foxes about.
When we moved into our house (without cats) it turned out to be totally flea infested. Utter nightmare and it took a long time to clear. I do NOT want to EVER be in that position again.
What do you do to ensure that you don't get fleas in the house and on the cats?
I read that flea collars are no longer effective for example. We are off to the vets this week for their final vaccinations so I want to get the right quantities and brands.
I am aware that some cats are allergic, ours appeared to be fine after their treatment at the cat sanctuary so I don't think that's an issue. They are domestic shorthairs/common or garden moggies so I don't know if regular combing would be of use? My MIL used to hoover her cats but I don't know that I'm that brave.
