Our previous cat was a very timid house cat.

Yesterday we brought home a five month old kitten.

He has been on every item of furniture, including bookcases. He has been in the kitchen sink. He is on the work surfaces if we take an eye off him. He has been removed from the table 200000000 times.

He has DH wrapped around his paws already. And is being trailed by two over-excited children wherever he goes.

He is sizing up the back door - no way is he going out for a while yet!

Oh it's like having an excited toddler all over again - except that this one will be able to jump and climb! Remind me - has he been neutered yet? (I seem to remember he's a youngster and not a kit.)

Not yet, no. He is 5 months, so getting him done in a month seems to be the advice.

If he's healthy and of a decent weight he could probably be done now - have a word with your vet. (And get him chipped at the same time if not already done.) He should hopefully calm down a bit after that because he's probably starting to get teenage hormones right now.

And yes - I wouldn't let him out without neutering and chipping, particularly if he's full of himself.

Best of luck!

Definitely getting him chipped - we have a lot of cats locally so getting a chip-reading cat flap.
