Kitten suddenly stopped using litter tray!

I have a 5 month old kitten whom I have had since birth. (Mother now neutered)

Up until a few days ago she was using her litter tray regularly but had suddenly stopped.
I have 2 children under 8 who at times leave jackets, dirty clothes on the floor and this is where she now does her business - on anything soft on the floor.
The other day she even pooped on my sons bed!!

Please help, how can this be happening? What should I do? It's driving me nuts.
Please help.
Thanks.

first get on top of the children leaving stuff on the floor for her to go on that will reduce the temptaion, and shut the bedroom doors so she dosent have access to the beds, how many litter trays do you have you may have to confine her in one room overnight like a bathroom or kitchen so the floor if she does go is easy clean, and maybe have a litter tray upstairs and one downstairs till she gets back into using it, presumably whe will be going outdoors soon, once she does she wont go indoors as much

Is the kit due to be neutered shortly as well? I'm wondering if she's getting hormonal already.

I took the kitten to the vet who gave her a jag I'm case she has a urine infection.
She also gave me practical advice about litter trays etc.

She isn't due to be neutered until next month and my toddler let her out a couple of weeks ago by accident - she was gone for about a couple of hours so I'm majorly worrying about that.

If she's healthy and of decent weight, Ghirly, you should be able to neuter her now. I'd speak to your vet abut it .

Thankyou cozietoesie. I'll do that.

We neuter routinely at five months and never advise leaving it any longer than that. We will even do it at four months in some circumstances so there really is no need to wait.
