Does play influence personality?

I am very excited to be adopting a beautiful kitten on Friday.

We're all looking forward to some fun play times once catmintkitten has settled in. I have bought many toys...

Which got me thinking. If play is primarily focused on chasing/ pouncing etc, does this influence kittens to hunt more when grown up, or hunt more successfully? What fun non prey games are there? My old cat loved diving into paper bags.

Ps I am interested from an animal behaviour perspective, I do not propose not to play with my kitten!

i have only really had one prolific hunter cat and she never played with conventional toys the only ones she liked was killing catnip mice (and real ones) the two kittens i am fostering at the moment love ribbons and coat belts to hang off, love chasing ping pong balls and playing football together with them, wether they will grow into hunters i dont know as they will be going to somone else to grow up into big cats, i think somew cats are hunters some are not and play as kittens is more for interaction with you as thier owner and socialisation rather than teaching them to be hunters as chase and hunt seems to come naturally to a cat

Posh arrogant boy played oodles of punching games - he catches nothing.
Tail less wonder I suspect never had any one play with her, she is determined to devastate the olds rat population.
My beautiful moggy girl again was played with a lot as a kitten, she killed a pigeon once it was all very distasteful and she got covered in blood - she never did that again.
From what I see drive to hunt is probably inherited.
