He does go out hunting, but he loves his home too Sad

48 hours now. I can't concentrate at work and I'm trying to get someone to cover my shift tomorrow as I just don't want to see people.

Where the hell is he? I'm worried he's stuck down a rabbit hole as he goes rabbiting.

I've put leaflets through peoples doors and the local kids have been out looking. We've been out searching and driving around and everything. He could be anywhere, there's loads of fields around. It's like cat heaven, but I'm so scared that he's stuck or hurt and needs us and we're not there.

What do I do? I can cope if they're knocked down and I have a body, but this is just agony Sad My mind is racing.

Could you go down at night with a torch? Their eyes reflect off the beam.

Dh uses one to locate our cat at night.

I'm glad you've had another snippet of information, don't give up hope yet!

When my friend lost her dog a person told her to go out at night or very early morning, because given that it is quiet the animal would feel more comfortable going out of her hiding place, also given the familiar voice. Would that be an option at all? I know the area is large, but perhaps it could work? Sorry, am trying to think hard how to help.

We've just been out with a flashlight and gone right around the sewage works calling his name. I'm too scared to go round that area during the night Sad Might have to try and get up just before dawn and try then.

He must be still near if he hasn't crossed the river. There is nowhere else for him to go. He wouldn't head off into town because he'd be too frightened and the only other direction is the park and some woodland around it. I don't think he'd move away from his usual area.

We also live just down the road from a church with a bell that rings every hour (so he can hear where he is) and the sewage works always smells (so he can smell where he's meant to be).

We haven't got any family or friends in the area. I take the kids out with me sometimes. I'm mainly relying on my posters and us searching and calling his name ourselves. He will be in the local paper tomorrow hopefully. At least I don't think he's been abducted now. A fight with another cat is more likely and he's been driven off his territory and become lost. I've been researching cat behaviour on the Internet and it's called Displacement apparently.

Hi Hidden
Thought of you this afternoon. We had a cat come through our cat flap (a Tabby) it was obviously hungry, and had sniffed out some dried food that I had put down for ours near the cat flap.
It was quite nervous, but I gave it some milk and a sachet of food.
It had no collar and looked a bit scruffy, but not too bad.
It then curled up and had a snooze.
I looked on a few websites to try and match it with missing cats, went back to the kitchen and it had gone. I felt so bad, I wish I had shut it in. I am now worried incase it is someone's lost and loved pet.
Maybe I will come back?
I know it's not your cat, but maybe your cat is a survivor too, and is just lost.
Keeping hoping for you.
When my mum was alive, she used to say a prayer to St Anthony when anything was lost, and 9 times out of 10 it turned up.
I am not religious, but it can't hurt, I will be having a little chat with St Anthony later.

Hi chickydoo I've said a few to St Jude (patron saint of lost causes), but he mustn't be a cat lover, so I'll try St Anthony.

There is a lovely article in the local paper today which we received earlier on. Nice photo too.

We're going out tomorrow afternoon after I've finished work with more posters extending into the neighbouring area.

Well you're certainly doing everything you possibly can. I do hope you get some news.

MexicanHat · 13/09/2013 13:54

Great that it's in the local paper hidden Hopefully once people finish work and settle with the paper this weekend you will get people getting in touch with you with info and offers of help with the search.

Thinking of you and sending lots of positive vibes your way..............

Putitonthelist · 22/09/2013 11:54
