There is nothing better is there? Haven't seen her for a week, and now she's back and all is well with the world. Grin

She's looking very sleek. Cattery lady brushes her every day.

Aw, that's nice! Was she pleased to see you?

cozietoesie · 01/09/2013 17:54

Very reassuring to have a good cattery that you can rely on. Emergencies can always happen and you never know when you'll need one.

Sparklingbrook · 01/09/2013 17:55

Well I can't say she leapt into my arms Get, but she wanted a big fuss and a cuddle when we got home, after screaming in the carrier all the way back from the cattery. Smile

She has gone off to have a good sniff round the garden now.

I love the Cattery we have found. They say drop off/pick up whenever you like, they do one night if you need it, also they charge by the night when others charge by the day.

I reckon it must be good. Going by the impression I've formed of SparklingCat, I wouldn't have thought she'd let someone groom them if she didn't approve of them.

GetStuffezd · 01/09/2013 18:02

Mine are terrible in the carrier too! They do this appalling MRRRROOOOOOOWWWWWWWW yowl which puts genuine panic into me while I'm driving. Very stressful! Blocks out memories of doing 450 mile round trip at Christmas down the M1

cozietoesie · 01/09/2013 18:02

groom her.

(Sorry - on the laptop.)

GreenShadow · 01/09/2013 18:05

We had to use a new one this year as booked holiday relatively late and definitely won't be using it again. In the course of 9 nights, one of our little boys has lost a quarter of his body weight! The other one has also lost a little but then he was getting on the podgy side anyway and it doesn't show as much.
The owners said they had eaten really well, but they were starving when they got home.

Will be much more hesitant about leaving them again.

Sparklingbrook · 01/09/2013 18:10

It is a gamble. I have used a few catteries since owning cats and they definitely differ.

I used one i was quite happy with up until a few years ago then one day they were full so went to the one we use now and much preferred it.

Some are run very business like by people that aren't that fussed about cats, some by people bonkers about cats to a degree that is a little alarming. (Net curtains with cats on in the 'chalets' for instance. Grin)

Thats lovely, sounds like a good cattery.

We went round 5 before we chose one to put our 6 month kitten in. Dcat has been going there 12 years now. They cook the cats' a turkey at Christmas and each cat has a sock. Plus ours puts on weight there and gets lots of fuss.

cozietoesie · 01/09/2013 18:22

A Christmas sock ?

Shock
GreenShadow · 01/09/2013 18:25

There's not a lot of choice here unfortunately - and if you need to book less than 4 or 5 months in advance for the summer, the choice is even less.
The owners seemed very loving, but I do wonder how much attention they paid to their eating habits.

Liskey · 01/09/2013 20:47

yes - a Christmas present for each cat. DH offered to stay there instead of going to his in-laws Hmm

Ours is good but is very busy.

She is a normal cat lover though, no bonkers behaviour and she and the assistant both own Bengals so nothing shocks them blocks out poo flinging incident

He still sits with his back to everyone though, he's not a good advert for them that's for sure.

I get yelled at all the way home too, then he goes out but comes back to yell at us from the street. Neighbours must love him.

RussianBlu · 03/09/2013 23:38

Can I ask how much you pay per night at your cattery?

northernlurker · 03/09/2013 23:42

Ours is always pleased to see us. I love standing there quizzing them on what she's done and said whilst we've been away. It's £6.50 a night for us. My parents pay £11 for two.

The one we use is basic but clean and they love the cats. Always v enthusiastic about her. Plus she gets an orchard view from her pen Grin. She's been there quite a lot since we've had her and comes home looking sleek and well.

Sparklingbrook · 04/09/2013 07:13

I pay £9 a night for Sparkling Cat Russian. I think that may be a bit ££ but I am so happy with the cattery I don't mind.

The owners remember the DC by name-it's the little things that make it good I think.

YY to sleek when they come back nl. Smile

...the poo flinging incident.......?

RussianBlu · 04/09/2013 17:57

Oh my, I think that you are both getting a complete bargain compared to what I had to pay. Believe it or not it was £24 a night. The £9 a night option was a cage the which only really had enough room for a cat to turn around in a circle and would only have been suitable for overnight stays form very old/ill or very tiny kittens. It was not some fancy cat hotel or anything. There were no stunning views, no windows in the room even. It was clean and modern though. There is almost no choice near me and I feel uneasy just getting a cat sitter into my house that I have found from the internet so I felt I had no choice!

Sparklingbrook · 04/09/2013 18:43

Wowzers Russian that is v expensive.

moonbells · 04/09/2013 18:54

Is there a MN listing for good catteries? I guess there ought to be...

Sparklingbrook · 04/09/2013 19:33

There should be a Trip Advisor style rating. Grin

OP posts:
northernlurker · 05/09/2013 08:24

Crikey Russian. £6.50 buys us a small sort of house and then she has a bit of 'outside' space too with a ramp down. It's not huge but it's big enough plus they are all individually taken out and played with every day (they say it gives them a chance to check their health but I think they just like to play)
