My cat and two others, what were they up to???

My almost five month old ginger tom would not come in tonight and I 'caught' him outside being somewhat matcho (pushing out his chest) with two huge fluffy cats. Were they males or females or what? No sound of fighting and no aggression but he stood his ground, appeared to chase one and would come in for dinner! Feels like he is a restless teenager and only 20 weeks old!!

Any help, please?

Hanging out with the guys I'd suspect. Probably neutered toms if there was no actual fisticuffs.

Er - is he neutered yet?

Italiangreyhound · 27/08/2013 00:39

No he isn't 5 months yet and I thought I had to wait until 6. The vet said we could stop by and see if he is ready before that but we will have to at £18 if we are told he is not ready! Which seems a bit of a rip off!

Cozie how do you know so much about cats!

I think I'd be taking the chance reasonably soonish if I were you. Why not weigh him and have a chat with the vet on the phone afterwards.

Sounds like making friends. Ours did similar with adults he met as a kitten, he would "tag" well hard farm cats who just looked at him like Hmm but he was very close to them, they even came in our garden.

Neuter or keep him in for his own safety. The nurse should surely be able to weigh him for free?.

Italiangreyhound · 27/08/2013 09:17

I can't keep him in he will go mad! He is very, very full of energy.
We are going away tomorrow for a few days so as soon as we are back we can look into that.

I think that that's wise. Some cats are more advanced than others at that age. (I recall that Twoago started tentatively spraying at about 5 months and Oneago's litter brother sired an unplanned litter of kittens at about the same.)

Italiangreyhound · 27/08/2013 09:25

He is booked in for his 5 month birthday! Hooray.

That's good. We (CHAT) recommended neutering at five months and we can do it even earlier.
