Mother cat and kittens

It's nearly time for the kittens my lovely cat had to go to their new homes - only another 2 weeks.

Two people are having two kittens each which I am pleased about because they get to go with a brother/sister from the litter, but I'm worried about my cat. Will she miss them? Is there any way I can help her?

Thanks.

she may miss them for a day or two but generally by the time kittens are old enough to go to new homes the moms have had enough of them, make sure you get her spayed before you let her out as female cats can get pregnant very quickly

The vet have told me she can't be spayed until the kittens are weaned and they are still feeding from her, although they are eating solids as well. :)

Once the kittens have gone the vet should be ale to spay her. We took in a mum and two kittens last year (kitten pics on profile) and mum was spayed soon after we brought them all home (kittens about 10 weeks by then).

Some cats will still lactate after being spayed - mine did! This was a total surprise to me and the daft orange boy kept suckling until he was about 6 months old. He still has a go now (over a year old) but she's def dried up now and only tolerates it for about 5 seconds ha!

I'm amazed she doesn't biff him as soon as he comes within nosing around distance!

One of the most common things I hear is where a kitten is kept with the mother cat and then she gets really grumpy with it when it is about 15 weeks or so. Kittens grow up and leave home seems to be she is saying.
My female definitely didn't miss her kittens when she left them behind in the shelter - she finally stopped self epilating her tail stump and relaxed.

Our cats mum was completely disenchanted with motherhood by the time we got him at 17 weeks. She was hissing at him and biffing him.

yes we have a mummy and kitten, I think she is very dischuffed that she got shot of all the other kittens but still has one! He's now 19 weeks and loves jumping on her to play fight. She is not impressed and tends to bat him and hiss, or retaliate with claws and biting. (Then 5 mins later, we find Moonkitten lying on his back with mum straddling him giving him a Really Good Wash Grin)

Fortunately for her, he can't get out the garden. She can. We think she spends most of her days in next door's, where she can keep an eye on matters but isn't badgered.

Moonbells, that really made me laugh!

Gobbin, gorgeous kits! Will try to add some of mine! :)
