Because ours has been whinging since 19.30.

He has food, water and a litter tray filled deeply enough so you can't see his paws when he's in it.

It's all meow, meow, meow, mer, mrooww, meow, meow.

And dh wonders why I've had 2 glasses of wine tonight.

He was. But I sent him off after he changed the font setting and switched off the internet (twice) on the laptop. He's now under his fleece thinking undoubtedly dark thoughts.

Fluffycloudland77 · 05/07/2013 21:54

How does he switch the Internet off?

I have no idea. (Or the font size - something to do with moving his paws on the integral mouse.) Technically - he puts it into 'Flight Mode'.

Fluffycloudland77 · 05/07/2013 22:02

I wonder what revenge he will wreak? 3am wake up call perhaps.

The morning is the best time of the day after all.

Oh no - there are some things I wouldn't tolerate. (I'm not a morning person.) Waking me up too early would be an Exclusion From The Presence issue and he knows it.

Our cat used to threaten to scratch the good furniture (good=not from IKEA in this instance) to get our attention at stupid o'clock am.

Now she threatens to wake the baby. She may have a brain the size of a hazelnut, but when it comes to blackmailing you for food she aint daft.

Fluffycloudland77 · 05/07/2013 22:25

Do you get fair warning the baby is about to be woken? I need a few minutes to compute first thing.

Mine generally grizzle about the weather, it's too hot, too windy or too wet which doesn't leave many days when they are content tbh...

Also the grizzling from 8.30 each night to be put to bed for the night, all because they want to share half a pouch of wet food...

sleepyhead · 05/07/2013 22:34

She doesn't actually wake the baby you see, just demands food with menaces.

Step one - get into room (I think this takes her a while as we do always shut the door on her).

Step two - jump on bed and pur loudly/kneed face etc

Step three - jump down and approach cot miaowing

Step four - put front paws up on side of cot and look back at bed in a threatening manner.

Step five would be to bat at the cot and create enough racket to wake the baby but she's always been booted out before that happens.

See, she's good at the techniques of extortion, but doesn't seem to realise that it never actually results in food (never give in to blackmailers people!).
