Getting 7 week old kittens litter trained

I have 4 kittens who are 7 weeks and 1 day old. At least two of them are using the litter tray as I've witnessed them. However at least one of them is using his bed/blankets.

Really need advice on how to stop this!! Help!
Thanks.

You need another tray I think, Ghirly, even though they're young. Sounds like you could have a fussy one on your hands. And hot washing the bed etc with non-bio.

You could try stimulating him over the tray shortly after he's eaten. (Usually a few minutes gap.) That's if you can work out who it is.

Thank you.
So have two trays? I have a bigger one with a lid which my older cats use, will that be too big for the kittens?

Someone at my work suggested he could be anxious as that's what her puppy was doing when he was younger. Do you think that could be the same with kittens? I'd hate to think so. They all seem happy enough although I have noticed the girl cat does sometimes tend to separate herself from the other three - only very occasionally tho.

So confused, frustrated and worried.

Give it time, 7 weeks is super young- they shouldn't generally leave the mum cat until at least 8 weeks, do you have mum too? If there are poos then put them in the litter tray but I'd wait 2-3 more weeks before doing anything radical. Is it in the same place she's weeing/pooing? Put another litter tray there, place her in it and make a sweeping motion with her paw in the litter- she'll get it!

Thank you Sarah, I tried that today. Got another tray and showed the two suspects how to use it and did the simulation with their paws etc. fingers crossed.

Totally unrelated but I have a fb friend who was showing off her kitten today that she had had for a week, it looked tiny so I asked how old she was - 8 weeks I was told - so she was taken from her mum at just 7 weeks of age. Is it only me who feels really sad at that? Xx

P.s. yes Sarah I've still got mum cat, she still feeds her brood too!! Xx

Totally sad :-( poor kitties! Phew! I'm glad yours are with mum!

Honestly I wouldn't worry- a lot of litter training is them observing mum and each other so just let them get on with it for the time being and they'll soon crack it! (Though currently with about 7 at that intermediary stage I feel your pain!)

If they keep going in the same place for a really long time a change of scene often cracks it- move to another room with all their things and it usually stops it.
