she just will not leave my side. all day she cries for fuss. as soon as i sit down she is on me, which isn't so bad when i have nothing to do. its great in the evening to snuggle with her whilst i read but the problems come at bedtime...

she has only been living here 6 days so in terms of settling in and forming bonds she is doing brilliantly and Im impressed with how great she's doing. i am shutting her in the kitchen at night, which is where her food, water, tray, bed, toys, us-smelling blanket are all situated. but she spends hours just crying for fuss.

im not comfortable with her being allowed free roam of the whole house while we're in bed so how can i encourage her to sleep on her bed/blanket without getting fretful? im like a mum up with a newborn... i hear her cries and Im a sucker Blush

Every time I try to allow the cats in my room at night they remind me within 20 minutes why I don't!

Im a light sleeper and its one thing having a cats butt in your face whilst your chest is being 'needled' or 'dough punched' when you're awake, and quite another when tired and tetchy. They also use under our bed as a fortress so many battles take place there.

Good luck with whatever you decide!

I wish I knew a Siamese, they sound like right characters.

ALovelyBunchOfCoconuts · 02/06/2013 09:36

I have uploaded a couple of pictures of her.

Delia I am a light sleeper too so I think that's partly why I keep her downstairs. I am not a nice person if my sleep is interrupted thank you DS

And a very good looking girl as well.

I love the markings, very distinctive.

What a cutie Smile

Our girl was massively clingy when we first got her - I was tempted to rename her Shadow. She got a lot better over time as I'm sure your girl will. You have to take into consideration that she's been rejected by her old family so it will take time for her to feel secure - it's like having your partner break up with you out of the blue and then immediately moving in with someone you've just met.

I just heard mine wailing like a banshee around the house. I've been ill and she has spent much of the day on a vigil outside the bedroom door. I suspect its just that she hasn't had her daily supply of dreamies.

cozietoesie · 02/06/2013 23:12

Nope - she wants in to cuddle with you.

She will probably grow out of it a bit, although my male cat still makes a huge fuss if he feels I'm not giving him enough attention.

Maybe when she starts going outside (if she's going to be allowed out) she'll calm down. My boy did when there were interesting things to do outside instead of following me around whinging for attention all day.

My "baby" is nearly 13 and still desperately clingy. I am typing lying done and she is wedged between my shoulder and my ear!Grin She had to be artificially fed as too weak to feed from her mum according to the cat shelter. She is adorable, so affectionate but even I sometimes want some space!

edam · 02/06/2013 23:30

She's very cute and obviously not Siamese at all, just a very lovely cat who deserves space in your bed. Grin

Btw, I once tested a cat of mine who was very affectionate and loved to sit on my lap. I always needed to get up before she jumped down, so one day decided to find out how long she'd sit there if I didn't get up. We lasted about four hours before I desperately needed a pee and had to give up! She'd probably still have been there four hours later... She was a lovely little thing, bless her, still miss her now.
