Kitten with cat flu

My kitten was diagnosed with cat flu last Saturday. He is 16 weeks old. The vet thinks he caught it from his cat family before he was vaccinated and said the vaccination has suppressed the symptoms. I have been giving him antibiotics since then (a weeks' course).

I thought he was getting better, but I'm just a bit concerned today. Yesterday, he seemed a bit more playful, but he really didn't want to play at all today and has spent all day sleeping. He is eating and has drunk a little water, which must be a good sign. His voice, which he lost just before his diagnosis, is still hoarse. He is very willing to be cuddled, but he doesn't seem to have any energy at all.

Does anyone know if this is normal for a kitten with (supposedly) mild cat flu? (Am hoping there might be some vets lurking, as well as cat owners who have been through this before).

Hopefully one of the vets will respond but I couldn't let you go unanswered. As far as I know, the ABs are just to stave off opportunistic infections (and will have helped the paws) but he'll just have to fight the virus like a human does - with the same potential variation in time. I can't imagine that the odd day when he wants to sleep is necessarily awful. Sure, you' d like to see him bounce back directly but viruses can take a bit to recover from.

Eating and drinking is good. Can I ask as well what the temperature was today in the house? (They sometimes sleep a lot in heat and spring/summer won't be something he's used to being a winter baby.)

Thanks for your reply, cozie. It was actually quite warm at home today. It hadn't occurred to me that this could be a reason for his lethargy. I suppose he will be feeling tired from the flu, like a human does when recovering. I had expected a steady improvement and because he was a bit playful yesterday I thought he'd be even more playful today, but he was quite the opposite.
