Our boy was scaled and polished under GA last October and it was £106.
It must have been hurting his mouth before because afterwards he was skipping about and so much happier. We have two cats, they're only young (aged 2 and 3) both fed the same, but one is just more prone than the other to tarter build up. I was told even if a cat is insured this isn't the sort of thing covered as a rule.
It was suggested we try to brush his teeth
but fgs a cat won't let you do that! I did try sprinkling something on the food, cant remember the name, but they wouldn't eat it .
Following the scale and polish I did buy some 'toothpaste' for cats from Ebay and he sometimes licks a bit off his paw. He's 'supposed' to be eating mainly biscuits now, but again a cat will only do what it wants and he likes pouch food mainly and kicks up a terrible rumpus until he gets his own way.
So as he's just prone to it I guess it could be something that'll need doing every couple of years or so. It's important cats don't lose teeth though so we'll be keeping an eye on him from now on.
Good luck to Sparklingcat. I hope she's as comfortable post scale and polish as ours boy was. It made a huge difference
He's always been good natured but I think his mouth had been bothering him more than I knew
