This cat is pregnant isn't it? And not only that...

... she's going to give birth?

Currently under my dining room table, has a v swollen belly, washing herself constantly and has swollen, slightly distended nipples. She is mewling a bit. I haven't gone too near to her, this is just what I can see. She is cowered and will not come out.

This cat's about to give birth under my table, right?

So... the local vet has closed. Who do I call?

Those kittens are going to need homes. I think you should have at least 1.

Madratlady · 15/04/2013 17:48

I wonder if the foster owner took her on already pregnant? It's unlikely that a responsibly rescue would foster out a young, unspayed cat.

ShowOfHands will you be giving one of the kittens a home?

Toddle · 15/04/2013 17:49

I feel cheated! Sparkling's got me all excited. I was coming on to say shut your cupboards and ogle over little kittens and there's none.

Envy I have no new babies or kittens Sad

Sparklingbrook · 15/04/2013 17:50

I would imagine so Mad. Someone has presumably given the cat up because it was pregnant.

Sparklingbrook · 15/04/2013 17:50

Toddle you had your turn and being kitty midwife. Grin

ShowOfHands · 15/04/2013 17:57

I gather she took the cat on BECAUSE it was pregnant and would need extra care. The cat was likewise abandoned because it was pregnant afaik.

I will not be taking on a kitten. I will not I will not I will not I will not.

DH would kill me.

We're getting an axolotl next anyway.

Bah to axolotl

They are sooo not cuddly

Get a kitten

Madratlady · 15/04/2013 18:08

I agree with Annoying Orange

You could have a kitten AND an axolotl...

HazeltheMcWitch · 15/04/2013 18:09

Aww, Showy - I had to pop away from MN (I know!), and i have come back to this lovely development. Yay for you, and Yay for the fosterer.

Toddle! Have not seen you for a while. SInce your midwifey moment, maybe!

Toddle · 15/04/2013 21:54

You need a kitten polly chose you. They were destined to be yours! thinks of the kitten pics

No I don't post a lot really. Don't have much useful or interesting to say Grin

I did see another kitten thread in chat a few days ago and typed out a really long post and it went poof!

Missy cat is doing well. Ds adores her. She really is stupid when it comes to him. There's a pic I put on my profile a while ago of him eating her like a chicken leg. It's hard to believe its the same cat that attacks dogs... Yes dogs! That come onto our front garden when there being walked to the park.

I'm honestly concerned I am going to have a visit from the council telling me to stick a muzzle on her paws or something. It's very funny to watch the dog owners face when she goes charging at the dog that was coming for her Grin

Sparklingbrook · 15/04/2013 21:57

She sounds fearless Toddle. Dare I ask how long ago the kittens were born? Is it a year or more?

blondieminx · 15/04/2013 22:02

Aaah all's well that ends well Smile

Nice to "see" you Toddle, I remember your thread! Good to hear Missy is doing well (and your DS!)

Envy I'd love this to happen to me. Although years ago a cat gave birth in my bed. Whilst I was in it. She wasn't my cat, she belonged to a housemate, but most nights she preferred to sleep in my bed with me.

My advice is let her give birth where she is then move her afterwards.

SummerRainIsADistantMemory · 15/04/2013 23:01

I'm glad to hear she's got an owner. Cute as kittens are I have personal experience (on more than one occasion) of a feral choosing my house to nest in and it's no walk in the park. We spent months freezing to death both times because we couldn't close windows/doors without the mother cats going insane. And rehoming kittens of dubious origin is tricky, we ended up keeping several of them a as we just couldn't find suitable homes.

Hope the birth is going ok Smile

No it's not, I've had a few, but they are not allowed outdoors at all while they are being fostered PITA in summer.
