Kitten did wee on my bed!

Our kitten is 15 weeks old and been with us for 3 weeks. She was very nervous for the first couple of days but seems to have settled in well and likes to be around the family.

Some time this morning whilst I was asleep, she did a huge wee on my bed - not far from my face!

We have not had any accidents before apart from one on her first night. This morning her tray was accessible and clean. How can I make sure this doesn't happen again, (other than locking her in the kitchen)? Is it more likely to be a behaviour thing or just one of those things "babies" do??

Really don't want a house stinking of cats!

Probably just an accident.

Wash everything in bio powder.

You know cats will wee, poo and be sick in inappropiate places dont you? it's not going to come as a horrible shock when they yack up on the rug is it?

Probably just a baby accident - they happen. It might just have been a little bit of an upset though given the cold. Does she sleep with you, normally? (I'm thinking if it was real cold first thing and she couldn't manage to get into bed with you for comfort.)

As Fluffy said, this is probably the start of a long association for you with the deeper reaches of your cleaning cupboard. That's cats.

No, I expected a few accidents and have had cats before, it is just that I don't really want it on my bed!!

Don't worry I have a cupboard full of cleaning stuff.

My main was concern was due to having a friend who has 2 cats that wee in her shoes, on her bed, in her bag etc on an almost daily basis and if that was where we were heading I wanted to nip it in the bud.

That's OK - we were just teasing!

From my own experience, I have to say that they're inordinately clean even at that age. Kittens can have accidents of course but the ones I've had have been in protest at something - or on the first night, which is to be expected.

If I were you, I'd cast my mind back to last night and the early hours. Could something have upset her a tad?

PS - and the same sort of goes for your friend. I''d have to guess that she's doing something wrong (wrong litter, not enough trays - she should have two at least) or that there's a tension between her two cats which is presenting in that way.
