Could a blood test help?

My 2 year old cat has been prone to vomiting since she was about 6 months old. She's had endless trips to the vet, an inconclusive x ray, a urine test (resulting in along course of vitamin C) but never a blood test. If I asked for one what could it show and how much would it cost? Thanks.

When you say 'prone to' - how often is she vomiting?

A standard blood test will check liver, kidneys, proteins, electrolytes and blood cells sometimes thyroid. Most causes of intermittent vomiting in young cats don't show blood changes. And then there are the whole group of cats who intermittently vomit for no reason. The beautiful moggy girl is one of these had complete work up nothing wrong with she just gets the urge to vomit when she sees a lovely clean white duvet cover.

Thanks for the replies. Cozie - she vomits for about 3 or 4 days at a time about once a month. She's fine when she's fed home cooked chicken or fish, and usually fine with gravy cat food unless she's on a vomit spree (no longer give her jelly or dry food). Can't really see what sets her off on vomiting (not even a lovely clean white duvet cover Lonecat!!)

Worth experimenting with different cat foods beautiful moggy girl is much less vomity with waitrose own cat food than any other food. The worst is felix closely followed by whiskas.

Are you checking the vomit (sorry!) for furrballs, Cloudminnow ? That sounds a possible.

With many digestive problems with cats diet is the answer. If pet shop diets arent helping/you cant find one that suits speak to your vet about prescription diets - Royal Canin do a good one.
