apart from clean it, obviously!

We have had our year old cat since March. She goes outside (since about 3 weeks ago) but has not today because of the rain. No cat flap yet, so we just open the door. SHe uses a tray and has not missed since we had her. Tonight, I was just watching tv when she came and got into my son's playsuitcase and did the most enormous wee. I was a bit taken aback and shouted her name, so she finished and ran off!

She's not done this before so is it just one of those things or might she have a wee infection? She's eaten loads and done a poo today, and is not listless (or wasn't before she disappeared upstairs!) Does this need a vet, or should I just wait to see if it happens again? Am a bit clueless, sorry.

Thanks in advance.

is she stressed by anything? that can cause cats to urinate in different places, especially on or in treasured objects that belong to someone else! I think (though happy to be corrected) that it's sometimes to do with insecurity or territorial marking, though more common with tom cats. feliway might fix it if she is.

have you changed her litter recently, i mean the brand, or any of the litter tray materials? might be worth giving it all a good scrub and clean out as well, just in case there's something there she's unhappy about.

most common reason, afaik, is health though - urine infection a possible, so it may be worth taking her to the vets just to check and rule it out.

Thanks for that. I've just given her tray a good clean and she's now on my lap purring. Doesn't seem stressed except by not being able to go outside but we're upstairs now and she's ok. I'll keep a watching eye and if I see any more wee or if she seems distressed I'll take her to the rather handsome vet.

Thanks again.
