the last few days both dh & i have noticed our cat with leg akimbo and alot of licking going on. she rarely did this before, i have been trying to work out why, could be lots of reasons, she is doing it again now. initially i was pleased as she was taking a pride in herself but now i am getting paranoid. she has very long hair so i cannot actually she her botty' hole, she may not be licking it at all but grooming the fur. any thoughts appreciated thanks

Do you know if she's weeing as normal? When our (male) cat picked up a urinary tract infection, over-cleaning of the genital area was one of the signs for it.

actually, earlier on when she was eating i lifted up her tail and i saw a bigish' bit of dried poo stuck on her tail. i am guessing she had been trying to clean it off although i can't imagine how she would have been able to (she has very long hair) so whilst she was bending down i got some scissors from the bathroom cupboard and snipped the bit of hair off! i have never seen her actual bottom as she has so much thick hair, but i have tried to look to see if all seems well (not that i would know what i was looking for...). she can be a bit scary tbh, i am not overly confident with her when it comes to unusual handling (i have only had her as a rescue since november), i don't want to push my luck and would like to maintain the use of both hands :)

Sounds like the dangleberry was really annoying her.

Oh, and you would have maintained your limbs. An eye is usually the organ that gets targetted when my cats go wildWink

i am scared of her sometimes. she can just turn and go for you for no reason, no signs, nothing! although most of the time she is a sweetie and follows me around like a pet dog :) but i am very wary of her, no sudden movements :D

Nice to come back from RL and find a problem solved!

Maybe sometimes she has a small hallucination and thinks you've become giant prey on occasion? Wink

Stop being so scared of her. Really. She is a cat. Barely comes halfway up your shins.

She knows you are nervous. Fake confidence and it might help with the real stuff.WinkSmile

I am known as the mad cat person among my friends as they hear me chatting to mine as if they can understand. You will get there with her. Honestly. It might take her a bit of time to trust, as she is a rescue, but it will be worth it.

she is already my baby, i get on really well with her & i talk to her all the time but i am still wary of her although i don't show it most of the time. she can be very viscious sometimes although fortunately rarely but it has happened enough times to make me wary and to avoid fiddling with her ie handling her the way a vet/nurse would. i am not a natural cat lady you see

Sorry to hijack thread but, Secret could you have a look at this one too?

bit - yes, it's when you adopt the next twenty one and find you're sleeping on the floor so as not to disturb the cats on your bed by moving in your sleep that you need to get worried. Grin
