right wont flame you will need towels for her to give birth on, a large flattish bed like the bread baskets at the supermarket, or a large flattish cardboard box, she will need queen biscuits while she is feeding the kittens, no milk as this will give her the runs, and when she goes into labour be there for her without interfering just to make sure she has the kits ok and dosent reject them or ignore them and when the klits are about 6-8 weeks old please then get her spayed and dont let her out as she can get pregnant with 4-5 weeks after giving birth

OnlyWantsOneTwoAndThree · 31/05/2012 18:27

she's already booked in to be done :)

right, ive got a big plastic storage box and put it in the quietest place in the house, placed an old dark towel in the bottom which i was saving for my home birth and for the last couple of days Ive placed her in it a few times and shes sat in their happily.

she's eating lots, (i dont offer milk)

when will it happen?

(Ive found 6 lovely homes - who all want a cat)

You may want to read Toddle's thread/s she has just been through all this.

IAmBooybilee · 31/05/2012 18:30

have your vet warned that you might need to contact them if things go wrong

Sparklingbunting · 31/05/2012 18:31

Here it's long but very informative. Smile

issey6cats · 31/05/2012 18:36

ergh just looked it up 57-69 days so expect your brood any day now good luck

Incaminka · 31/05/2012 18:40

Hopefully all will go well, but if not you will need about £500 for a caesarian. I've only had two in 5 years of breeding siamese, but you can't insure for pregnancy related problems, so I always put £500 aside before even going to stud, just in case. Good luck, don't panic and the advice here is good. Real chicken and royal canin babycat good for her while nursing and for weaning.

OnlyWantsOneTwoAndThree · 31/05/2012 18:53

I've never ever had a cat having babies before - always had cats, have 3 ATM but older two are spayed/neutered

She was a feral farm cat we sort of adopted as an older kitten - vet wouldn't spay her while she was so tiny before and weve sort of stupidly let it slide without getting her done.

We all make mistakes - I have an oops litter of half siamese due shortly because of a rubbish catsitter (who also tried to move,in-long story). Sounds like your girl due very soon, keep an eye and keep googling re labour time etc in caae you need to call vet, but mostly they do ok. Will lurk in case.

we are on our second lot of little oppsies with 3 other cats, 2 teenagers and a toddler all of whom can not close a door, we have about 3 weeks to go before this little bundle arrive, vet has informed us that we can actually get her spayed 4 weeks after giving birth (thank god for that).......with out little madam, the best thing to do in not interfere too much, just give mum some loving strokes and words of encouragement, but keep a close eye, we had to break open the sac around 2 off the kittens and unfortunately the very last kitten died as mum gave up pushing, we had to gently push her tummy to force the little one out, but very good luck its a lovely experience

juneybean · 01/06/2012 12:28

Ooo I love kittens so I won't flame you, but when it comes to potty training, it's the pebbly type litter you want not the sawdusty type, as the kittens will sometimes eat the litter and the sawdust stuff expands in their little tummies.

Sorry it's been 9 years since I had kittens so I cannot remember the proper names of the litter Hmm Grin

sashh · 06/06/2012 12:12

Pics, pics, we need pics as soon as she pops, and daily updates.

One of my best memories is coming home from school, noticing the cat had gone under my quilt on my bed, picking her up and finding kittens.

AllYouNeedIsAClickyBallpoint · 06/06/2012 12:16

sashh - I think there is a thread in chat with pics :)

sashh · 07/06/2012 03:12

Oh I've seen those pics - sooooooooo cute. But you can never have enough kitty pics.
