Seems to be fur ball day in my house (having never seen any inside the house before)

Tigger was first this morning - started retching, looked around the bedroom, walked over to the only non carpeted area which happens to be a tea towel covering an extension cord plug in thingy and throws it up on the towel.

I was mighty impressed then but I just heard retching coming from upstairs so pegged it up to find Smudge throwing up half her dinner plus a half a mangled mouse and a large furr ball (tmi I know :))

But, she was depositing all of this into a glass bowl in the bathroom which is wedged nearly under the toilet to catch some occasional drips from a pipe there.

Couldn't believe my eyes, especially since she managed to get her head over it properly and all went in the bowl and not on the floor.

Evidently both of my furries have a high respect for my floors Grin

You have them well-trained Grin When my little hairy master feels the need to vomit up hairballs/ tinsel/ string, he goes for the waterfall effect, down the stairs or down my dining room chairs. How did you manage it??

BibiBlocksberg · 16/05/2012 00:06

No idea Jooly, wish i knew, the secret to that might have made me rich Grin

The few times tigger has been sick I've seen him walk over to the laminate from the rug before he started and (he once left a steaming mountain of vomit on the upstairs window sill for me to find - ewwwww!)

Until today though I thought it was just fluke - after the tea towel spotting of this morning though I've decided he's a genius :)

Smudge usually has no aversion to carpeted areas when feeling queasy so can only presume the genius has trained her too now.

Any easily wipeable surface is ok with me :)

Envy My animals are never sick in such an orderly fashion! Witchydog likes to retch...move forward a foot...retch again etc so I have a little gloopy trail (always on a carpeted surface) to clean up! You need to get your cats to make a youtube video for less enlightened pets to watch!

BibiBlocksberg · 16/05/2012 00:20

"You need to get your cats to make a youtube video for less enlightened pets to watch!"

Good idea, might get them to agree to that if I can stop them from growling and hissing at each other for 5 minutes.

Now, if I can get them to sanitise their paws and anuses instead of wiping the former on my bedding and cleaning the other so loudly it wakes me up every night they'd be perfect (can't have everything I suppose)

Yes, the moving forward while retching is usually Smudges modus operandi - you don't know whether to grab them and quickly carry them outside or whether that will just set off a huge jet of vomit as you squeeze their stomach while carrying.

Not nice at all.

Thistle down cat only ever brings back grass she has just eaten and prefers to use spare room washable rug.

ripsishere · 17/05/2012 12:56

Luckily, my two are not accomplished hunters and tend only to spew up grass in watery spit. We have laminate in the living room.
Grey boy did go through, what I think was bulimia Wink for a couple of days. He would gobble his food, drink a load of water then, go into the hall with the navy carpet and vomit a sort of rope of dry cat food paste. Nice.

MNP · 17/05/2012 18:22

Delightful Ripsishere

BibiBlocksberg · 17/05/2012 21:12

Something about that blue carpet your cat didn't like by the sound of things ripsishere :)

Spoke too soon about my tidy vomiters - woke up yesterday morning with glass bowl (not cuddly in the slightest unless scared) cat 'making biscuits on my chest Shock

Just as I was lying there thinking, why is she being so affectionate I spied another lumpy hair ball deposited on the end of the bed Angry

And then she had the audacity to make the 'ooh, I love you soooo much' face mentioned on the funny things thread.

Little bugger, good job I love her very much :)

One of my mine once puked a hairball (and accompanying food puke) into my DH's motorbike helmet.

He was NOT amused! (I was Grin)

Everytime cats eat a mouse I'm terrified of its entrails being sicked up around my house soon after

ragged · 19/05/2012 09:36

Eeek, I had to smash a mouse's brains in first thing this morning. It was either that or let the cats continue to play with it like a squeaky toy (back legs no longer working so I presume it's back was quite broken).

Almost tops watching Cat2 eat a pregnant mouse day before yesterday (little fetuses spilling out of tummy). I had No Idea that there were so many mice around here.

ripsishere · 19/05/2012 09:46

Mine aren't as bad as those MNP.
