I have a boy kitten, 14 weeks. Has been eating like horse to date, had jabs last Friday.

To date has been picture of health and vitality. Last 2 days has been hiding in the larder, looks to be off his food (tricky to be exact as he has a very greedy sister, but food's being left on the bowl when it's been scoffed in seconds to date) eyes ok, nose dry.

Cause for concern or watch and wait?

Hmm, it might be worth calling the vet for advice, most will do this free over the phone (especially as you have just forked out for jabs :) ) It does seen quite a late reaction so I doubt it is to do with the jabs, maybe he is just a little unsettled as he is still so young. My new kitten has been fine for a week and today just jumped on my bed and shat Shock

You could try feeding him seperately to see how much he is eating, maybe a bit of tuna to tempt him Grin

I would take him aside and give him a bit of bland chicken to see if he is willing to eat. Have you checked the litter box to see if his tummy is ok?

EnjoyResponsibly · 20/04/2012 10:04

He's eaten a bit this morning, litter tray has only hard stool. He's got his purr.

But...

His fur has lost it's lustre and he's a bit flompy if you know what I mean. Compared to his sister who's just climbed the dining room curtains.

Vet says bring him in so got an appt at 8.10 tonight.

My cat always seem to be a little off colour after her boosters maybe it is connected to the jabs.

When my kitten was off colour I gave him tiny amounts of scrambled egg (no milk).

Jux · 20/04/2012 10:07

Good luck tonight.

OneForTheRoadThen · 20/04/2012 10:23

:( good luck

ripsishere · 20/04/2012 15:35

Good luck. Hopefully he just needs some calpol and TLC - it works on my DD.

Fluffycloudland77 · 20/04/2012 15:44

Ours didnt eat for 2 days after his first set of boosters age 2.

Didnt groom, purr, walk upstairs, jump up on the sofa.

Then he got better and has been fine with his jabs since.

Tiptoptoe · 20/04/2012 19:34

One of mine had that and he had what the vet called "garbage stomach". He had eaten one to many moths or bugs of some sort. He had an injection and anti-biotics and was find in a day or two. I hope yours is ok.

Jux · 20/04/2012 20:17

How is he?

EnjoyResponsibly · 20/04/2012 21:14

He's got a temperature and has had an antibiotic injection. He is resting now on one of my silk cushions which is highly illegal.

Thank you all so much for your advice

Silk cushions are guaranteed to aid recovery; 8 out of 10 kittens have said so.

Fluffycloudland77 · 21/04/2012 11:53

My cat likes to sleep on my silk pillow case, he pushes me off it with his back legs. Which is when I wake up realising DH was too soft to put him in the kitchen at bedtime.

I bet he'll be better soon.
