Congratulations - kittens make me broody with their little meows and spiky claws [bugrin]
You might be best going for a mid-range insurance plan with one of the main insurers, such as Pet Plan, or even with a major supermarket, but the main thing to look out for in your policy is lifelong cover for all conditions - some low-priced plans stop when your cat's 8 years old (which is rubbish when he could live for 20 years + and you'll have a hard time finding a new policy); plus they may not cover illnesses or injuries after the year in which you first claim, no good for a chronic, long-term illness such as diabetes or arthritis, or if he's accident-prone and suffers the same injury twice. You should be able to get decent insurance for around £8 - £10 per month.
Try Money Supermarket for comparative insurance policies and up-to-date prices.

Anyone use Direct Line for Pet Insurance? How do you think it is for value, etc? Smile

The best cover for the lowest money I could find was Animal Friends, no idea what they're like to deal with though

Well I tell a lie actually, they were very pleasant when I had to phone them up about the fact that I'd accidentally taken out two policies for the same cat, lol

but I haven't made a claim yet is what I mean

After ALOT of research,I took out a lifetime cover policy from Argos. I went via Quidco and got 20% cashback. If you are not a member here is the link (its my referral link, I hope you don't mind)

www.quidco.com/user/139890/

Just type pet insurance in the search box and dozens of compaies come up, all offering cashback of one form or another. I went to a price comparson site to save time in whittling down the ones i was interested in, then looked at what cashback they offered.

Argos was one of the few still offering lifetime cover (Platinum policy) but it was also up to £7500 vets bill cover and only £65 excess. As a guide my neighbours cat got run over and has had a displaced fracture of its rear leg. Surgery and aftercare is so far £5000 and rising Shock They had petplan and it covered £3500.

I had petplan free from the rescue centre and when one of the cats became suddenly ill and was put to sleep by the vets they paid out less than half of the fees as they said euthanasia was not covered - the cat had massive organ failure due to septaceimia but as the vet "asked" us to put him to sleep rather than letting him die a slow death that part of the bill was not met - even the vet was shocked - Sad

Thank you everyone. Will have a look at the ones suggested.

I had cat insurance with Lloyds TSB with my last cat. Never claimed on it though.
