Cat foaming at the mouth, caused by spot on treatment?

I have a lovely ginger cat who seems healthy, today i saw it pooping outside and it seemed to have a runny tum, i thought maybe it could be caused by worms (2 weeks ago i saw a worm, bought a tablet from the vets but he only ate half of it), so i thought i would try the bob martins spot on wormer, i had to pin the cat down to put it on (he did get a little stressed) and then 5 minutes after he started making odd noises and foaming at the mouth, he then jumped onto the stair gate and almost looked as though he was in a trance (blank), he eventually got down and started scratching where the worm solution was so i wiped it off with a wet cloth.

Was it a reaction to the worm treatment or could there be something else wrong? (maybe whatever is causing to runny tummy)?

Should i take him to the vets? (i realy cant afford the £25 just to walk through the door but if he's poorly then i will have to take him).

He seemed ok half an hour after i wiped it away and was led outside sun bathing. He's outside now but ate some food before going out (so seemed ok).

Probably a reaction to the spot on - bob martins do not have a great reputation to be honest and i would avoid avoid. It could be that it has an alcohol based solvent which will have caused the reaction.

I don't think vets is necc but i would keep him indoors tonight if you can to keep and eye on him and don't use the bob martins again.

I have just googled and my memory was not deceiving me, i did a google search for Bob Martin's and adverse reaction and there were plenty of reports.

Thanks, we keep him in every night (as we dont have a cat flap) so will keep an eye on him tonight. I will have to get some more worming tablets from the vets and try to get him to eat a whole one. I wont touch bob martins again.

bob martins spot on has got some adverse reactions and a lot of people wont use them, ring your vets and ask him if you can have one single milbamax tablet, the rescue i work at uses this one, its really good and costs around £3.50 for one tablet but you only have to give the average sized cat half a tab, you may have to wait a couple of days for it as my vet had to order it in
