So, am I just going to have to accept that we have an evil cat?

She's 8 months old, we've had her since 5 weeks old (long story) and i just can't work her out.

We love her a lot, she is fed well and she always wants to be with us. Comes to bed for story time etc, walks to the shops. She won't sit on our knee though, but likes to be in the same room or next to you on the settee.

BUT sometimes she ncts like she will rip your head off given the chance!! Well, okay so I exaggerate a little, but she does like to try and get her teeth in. We do not use our hands as play things, we do not hit her or shout. I ds what woery firm no, a hiss or a growl - depends what works and she does let go - mostly. Very very occasionaly I have had to get her by the scruff of her neck (not dangling, I mean while she is in my arms) as otherwise she would do real serious damage Sad

When she sees you in the morning she is so loving and purring and sweet Hmm

She stays in the kitchen over night, even though we are very much the sort that allow free reign, but she was a terror for weeing behind the settee (that has stopped now). She has a bed there that she loves and also one upstairs thshe is aoves but i but can'tf we let her out of the kitchen she is a nightmare!! We have gven her time to get over the excitement but she still is too much of a pest.

Our lovely lovely neighbours (who have a trillion cats) say she hisses and spits at her Shock (our cat at the neighbour that is lol) but she doesn't do that to us. She'll let us pick her up but i doubt very much she would allow anyone else to !!

So, what do we do? Accept that i will have scarred hands? Hmm

We have an evil 8 year old cat, even the vet wont touch her, got her at 8 weeks from the CPL she is just pure eevviiilllll! We have all lost pints of blood over the years, we also have 2 very 'normal' cats so its not us its her!!

The only thing I can offer you is my sympathies and Thanks

maxybrown · 09/03/2012 15:57

sigh, i had a feeling it was going to be the case!

See my profile pic for my 'evil' cat.

She sounds very much like your's actually, although doesn't like to be picked up but loves being around us - just don't fuss her.

She will only show affection when I am in bed and she will happily sleep on my shoulder, allow me to stroke her and tickle her chin.

Just recently we've had a problem with a 'rogue' cat in the area - a Tom who is a bastard sprays EVERYWHERE and I think it's freaked her as she's become a homebody. She has started purring and jumping up for cuddles - it worries me! Is she brewing a plan? What's her ultimatum? Grin

I have been giving her lots of attention and she is getting friendlier, whereas before I was reluctant to make a fuss of her for fear of her attacking me.

Rosie is 3.5 years. We also have a very naughty 9 month old kitten, he is very affectionate and gets lots of fuss (he is also best buds with 'rogue' cat Hmm )

I think maybe you should accept that she is just not a tactile cat, still treat her with affection but just acknowledge that she likes her space?

maxybrown · 09/03/2012 16:03

lol made me laugh Grin I reckon she will swipe you when you are relaxing with her Grin

yes we will thank you for advice.

I do what i used to do with fighty small children at work - when she is nasty to me if i have hold of her, I won't let her go until she calms down. She knows this now and it is working Grin but then when she lets menstroke her as soon as she shows the slightest sign she has had enough I put her down instantly.

It's funny though as she had stopped being quite so bad and had really improved - I swear it's some of the food Hmm

don't say that!! She's sat on the arm of the chair now......am worried!!

What really upsets/perplexes me is if I take her to the vets (thankfully only for vaccinations as she's healthy) she turns into a pyscho-puma-beast and the vet is scared of her. So I've got 1 up on the vet, however when I take her to the grooming place (having warned them she is eeeeevil) I return to find my silky smooth, defluffed kitty, putty in the hands of the groomer. "oh she's such a sweetie, so lovely natured" Shock I paid, said thank you and then backed out quickly - is it them or me??

As for food, she's fussy. Doesn't like fish. I buy Felix pouches and GoCat. Thankfully Bert (kitten) will eat anything that isn't pinned down, so he gets her left overs. She will only eat chicken, occasionally turkey but never duck! (god forbid!) However, she doesn't like the poultry or meat GoCat, will only eat the fish one.........where's the [exasperated] emoticon??? Confused

I don't spend as much time on mine and DD's weekly meal planning as I do on Rosie's! Blush and Angry

maxybrown · 09/03/2012 19:14

Grin oh all sounds so familiar Grin what a bloody traitor at the salon! Shock

Hmm, gocat, not tried that one. She is such a fussy mare. But she gets chicken and fish too Hmm

I had it definitely right last week that it was def Turkey that she wouldn't eat, but we can scrap that one now Hmm I find gravy ones are worse as she'll lick all the gravy and leave the meat. I do reckon though that supermarket own brands bring out the worst in her.

We do it to ourselves, we do it to ourselves...........sigh

Maxy is she a tortie?

WhereBeThatBlackbirdTo · 09/03/2012 19:24

We had two evil cats, both female.

The tortie gave no warning of impending slashing -purr then slash! At least with the tabby she swished her tail to give us time to get away.

I warned one vet what the tortie was like, he said 'animals are different with vets' - seconds later she slashed his hand, blood all over the table. The next time we visited, the words VICIOUS CAT had appeared on her notes.

Both cats were vile in every way until they were 12/13 when they gradually became loving lap cats who dribbled and purred when stroked.

So - just wait 10 - 12 years and all will be fine!

BoomOoYattaTaTa · 09/03/2012 19:32

I think females can be more feisty. My two boys are soppy teddies. They have a girlfriend (she's very pretty and tiny with a pink nose) who comes into the garden, biffs them about and pinches their food given half a chance. They both look so Confused about it and sit by not sure how to handle her. Then she stalks off, pink nose in the air and won't come back for days.

BrianCoxHasScaryHair · 09/03/2012 19:32

Maxy - I think we own the same cat!! Shock Rosie always licks the jelly/gravy and leaves the meat - luckily Bert then appears (or the dog) and eats the meat.

The only other food she will eat is Co-op's own brand tinned TUNA cat food Hmm So, no she doesn't like fish, but she will eat that Angry

Sooo, only 12 years you say.....[gulp]

WhereBeThatBlackbirdTo · 09/03/2012 20:27

And food - don't get me started on food!

Give them Whiskas and they turn their noses up ('what muck'!). Give them Felix ('is this the best there is? muck'). Give them whatever the most expensive food is on offer ('muck!). Food with crunchies on top ('muck'), food without crunchies ('not eating that muck'), crunchies on their own (well, you can guess the comment). Even the feral cat who managed to move in is getting picky.

All followed by, constantly whinging 'I'm hungry, you never feed me...'

I love my cats dearly though and could never live in a cat-less home!

BrianCoxHasScaryHair · 09/03/2012 20:43

Agreed, the house would be a dull place without them.

Like I say, Bert will eat anything however Rosie and my dog are the fussiest buggers on the planet Angry

So is DD....there's a theme here....they're all female, the only resident to not be fussy is male.....Hmm

I quite like the idea of a sniper cat...

BrianCoxHasScaryHair · 09/03/2012 21:08

a reformed sniper cat - the worst kind!! Wink

Beamur · 09/03/2012 21:14

I was going to ask if it was a Tortie too. My old cat was pure evil.
I used to ask people not to make a fuss of her when they came round - there were too many casualties. She was always meek and well behaved at the vets though.
She shredded the curtains/wallpaper. Bullied the dog. Pounced on you as you walked up the stairs.

She mellowed as she got older. Liked to be with you ALL the time - I couldn't go to the toilet without her, she became very affectionate and loving.

Fluffycloudland77 · 09/03/2012 21:24

This is just like the rabbit proof fences we have around here. DH and I say to keep the SAS attack bunnies in. Not out.

BrianCoxHasScaryHair · 09/03/2012 21:26

SAS attack bunnies and sniper cats? Shock

Fluffycloudland77 · 09/03/2012 21:33

Well this is why we keep the bengal in overnight.

I blame the black cat, he is clearly the ringleader.

BrianCoxHasScaryHair · 09/03/2012 21:35

Clearly - black cats are eeeevil genius masterminds Grin

Fluffycloudland77 · 09/03/2012 21:47

He does have a look about him, sort of I have seen everything and done everything.

Still waiting to hear if evil cat is a tortie.
