Cat drinking from tap constantly!!

Previously he'd only drink from a measuring jug and there is always one out not cat bowl though but just recently has taken to jumping up on the side of the sinks to drink from the taps. Naturally I indulge him but he does this every time anyone goes near sink. Do you think there could be something wrong with him?

I used to foster cats for the Cats Protection League and had a Siamese. Oh once would only sip water from my goldfish bowl and the hand sink in the bathroom. I read somewhere that cats don't like to drink from their own bowl as it is not like 'in the wild', they like to hunt for it Confused. Is he ok in himself etc?

drinking more water and losing wheight can be a sign of diabetes or hypothyroidism in cats so i would take him to the vets to check this out, and cats prefer water that has stood for a while as fresh from the tap water has too much chlorine and the cats can smell it, i have a four pint milk bottle that i keep with water in it just for the cats and all of mine drink from the same bowl, or if your cat prefers running water might be worth investing in a cat fountain type device this will keep him/ her away from the sink

Thanks that's interesting issy. We did have a cat fountain when he was younger but he didn't like it. I think I'll take Him to the vets

My old cat had been looking a tad more dishevelled than usual (he's a scruffy old thing Grin ) and drinking loads, he was diagnosed with hypothyroidism. He's on the correct medication now and doing really well.
Some cats do prefer to drink running water I believe. Good luck at the vets, I hope it's nothing more than your cat being a fusspot, they are good at that.

He's in the vets right now. He's definitely anaemic, vet is just trying to find out the cause. Fingers and paws crossed Sad
