Suitable adoption donation?

We're off to the rescue centre tomorrow hoping to find our next cat or two. It's years since I've adopted from a centre and don't know what a suitable donation would be? I know it's how much I can afford really, but I don't want to be too mean/flamboyant!

I hope this isn't an insensitive question. TIA

hi mavis i work at Haworth cat rescue and our suggested donation per cat is £50 this includes flea treatment, worm treatment neutering and microchipped with a collar and tag, hope this gives you an idea, and well done for picking a rescue cat

Thanks issey, that's about the amount I was thinking of. All the cats I've had have been adopted as strays or from rescue centres - I genuinely find it Hmm that people would do anything else! Smile

Thats how much I donated each for my two-so £100. I have also since then been up to donate blankets, towels and newspaper as they had posters up to say they needed these.

One higher proflie rescue place near us has a price list for the animals they rehome - they charge £105 each for kittens but this includes all vaccinations, worming, flea treatment and neutering. The other rescue centre includes all the above but not neutering unless kitten is old enough. They do however offer this for a reduced rate if you cannot afford to get it done at local vets.

Our two cats came from a rescue and they suggested £40 each, so we rounded it up to £100. We also bought a couple of second hand cat carriers from them, I think they were about £20 each.

I gave £100 for my two boys. Then paid !160 to have them doctored and chipped.
I was astonished to see someone advertising kittens for £35 each. Not a shelter, just someone whose girl got out.

Thanks all - a suitable donation was given and two lovely six month old kittens are settling in nicely!
