kitten getting amorous with his brother

Shagging away merrily, suddenly, in last few days (not that his littermate seemed to mind at all).
They are both due to be castrated in 2.5 weeks (just short of 6 months, about as early as I can get them in for it).

Well the humping cease after testes removed, or is there a risk it become learned behaviour he never drops? Should I try to get him fixed sooner? I live in fear of the DC noticing & become fascinated with the kitty porn show (sigh).

Thank goodness they're both boys; one of mine got preggers at 4 months, poor little thing!

Grin I've got brothers, one of them is considerably more dominant and clever than the other.
After their castration, greyhead laid on his back and 'let' ginge lick his sad empty sac for about 15 minutes of ever hour. He sort of nudged him into it.

kreecherlivesupstairs · 08/02/2012 13:49

of course that is every hour. Poor ginge had to lick his own.

lol @ kreecher.

I've never had a cat who humps things (like his brother) Can't you shout at him everytime he starts?

ragged · 10/02/2012 08:48

I'm afraid he'll become generally afraid of us if we do that, CMinor. Misplaced fear or not?

My kitten was castrated a couple of weeks ago at aged 5 months. I had noticed signs of hormones though no humping. He has calmed down considerably, in fact become much less bold since his op so I suspect you might be ok. You could ring and ask the vet?

ragged · 10/02/2012 20:05

It's hard to know what to do. There's only one vet in the area that will castrate below 5.5 months -- well, below 6 months really, but I am fibbing and taking them in a week early (or so). My car is horribly expensive to run plus if there are any after care issues it would be better to be local (besides the fact it's further for the cats to travel if we don't go local).

I will ask about when we go in... 2 weeks and counting!

sorry, durh, I meant that it's more stressful for the cats if they have to travel further.

As long as you put plastic on your car seats (include the backs, they can spray at that age I think) you shouldn't have a problem. Make it like a gimp dungeon.
On the way back, they will be so out of it with the anaesthetic you should be fine.

kreecherlivesupstairs · 11/02/2012 07:44

Sorry, I miseread that as your car being horribly expensive to ruin.
Can you take a taxi if it would be cheaper?

My male cat gave his sister no peace from when he was about 4 months old. He was always following her around, trying to lick her bum, and mount her.

We had him done at about 5 months- early because he was being such a nuisance, and the behaviour stopped.

It may be different for you if this is dominance behaviour rather than sexual though.
