Our new rescue cat is in her element with this wet weather and is bringing in about 3 juicy fat garden worms each day. I keep finding them on the kitchen floor, in the utility, on the upstairs landing!!!

Uuugh, the grotesque creature Grin, I've never had a cat that did this before.

You are lucky-we get slow worms. Grin

CrispLeCrisp · 25/01/2012 20:53

Ours has brought in grass snakes, but no worms yet

CrispLeCrisp · 25/01/2012 20:53

Actually, they may have been slow worms Blush not sure of the difference

pinkhebe · 25/01/2012 20:55

We get toads - but it's ok, they are still alive!!

yeah my old cat did this once bless her, went under the bed with a slow worm. i was reaching under the bed with a piece of tissue to grab it, pulled and got half . the cat i've got now couldn't catch a cold!

it's grim, there was pink blood/guts type stuff left on the landing carpet where she'd obviously had a good play with it Grin

occasionally worms, but usually live frogs...

yep, worms, a flapping bird the other day,(!) and lots and lots of large, brown dead leaves....and twigs.

My boys thought they'd hit the jackpot when they caught an earth worm. Honestly they wouldn't leave the poor thing alone. I threw it out of the door a couple of times then one would come back in with it.
In the end I took it out and buried it and kept the cats inside.
Since they've lived with us (around 6 months) we've had one tiny dead frog, a tiny dead vole, a plump worm and lots of leaves.

My last cat did this (she was pts in June aged 21). When i lived in a flat teher were so many cats in teh block I don't think there were enough birds / mice to go round so Sophie caught worms instead. I remember looking up after studying for a while to find 6 worms crawling down my hall! When we moved to teh country she graduated to voles and mice.

We get twigs, live frogs/toads, robins are very catchable as are greenfinchs and chaffinches.

And baby bunnies. Not easy to catch a live baby bunny let me assure you, even when bleeding they are fast little buggers.

I think I'd rather have a worm than the live robin that flew past the bedroom door one day, cat in hot pursuit as it shitted all over the bathroom tiles and perched on the shower cubicle. That was a fun filled afternoon off sick.
