Goodbye Mac

We came downstairs this morning to find our huge ginger crosseyed cat had passed away in the garage last night. Sad

He had been diagnosed with a heart condition in September, and had his chest drained and was being managed on tablets and occasional injections, so it wasn't a surprise, but we are devastated.

Only yesterday he was putting the 7 year old tabby firmly in his place.

So RIP Mac, we will miss your motorbike purr, and the weight of your body making my legs go to sleep when you stretch out on me. You were such a licky cat. Sad

Sad How very sad. He sounds like a fabulous cat, and very much loved. [hugs] to you and your family.

Look on the bright side, he went out comfortably and pain free. Yes I'm looking at you SiL Angry.
Your Mac passed away in his own house.

Thank you.

We think he picked the garage because the children are usually downstairs first but they can't get in the garage without us. Or maybe we are just overthinking it.

He was more breathless last night, I told him he could go if he needed to. Sad

Kreecher Shock Angry at your sister in law.

She just loved her cat too much and was unable to recognise that his life had gone beyond worth living.

Poor you and poor kitty. Glad he went peacefully x

mankyscotslass · 29/12/2011 16:43

He did, looks like he went in his sleep.

If he had got worse we would have made the decsion to pts, but as it was, up until he went he was still his usual self, just breathing a little bit heavier. He was trying to nick the fish off my fork at teat time yesterday too. Smile

We had to have out first cat PTS about 7 years ago, with breast cancer, and it was an awful choice, but the right one.

In some ways the fact Mac decided to go himself made it easier on us.

Our poor tabby is wandering the house crying. Sad

Kids were up unsettled till 2300 last night.

I hated getting up to the loo in the night, Mac always tried to get on my knee when I was having a wee. Sad

Eldest son has alread suggested getting another cat. I think we will wait 6 months and see what we can get at a rescue (all ours are always rescue cats).

Mac and his sister were semi feral kittens when we got them from rescue.
