My cat is off her food, should I be taking her to the vet?

She was sick late on tuesday night and left a particularly unpleasant deposit in the litter tray that night.

Since then she doesn't seem to have eaten much at all, but seems fine and happy in herself, playing with pompoms sleeping purring harrassing us to let her outside, her usual things.

Time to try something tempting in her dish or time to make a vet appointment?

Could she have eaten a long dead pigeon/rotting rodent which disagreed with her?
I hate to think what emergency vet fees are like over Christmas though so if I were you I'd probably take her before (which might be a complete over reaction).
I'm not helping, am I? Grin

I doubt she would eat a manky dead thing thankfully, she is quite a fussy eater and a useless hunter. More the lazing around the house or snuggling on laps type. Grin

I have bought her a few tempting treats; if she's not interested in them at teatime, I will make her an appointment for tomorrow to get her checked out.

You're right I dread to think about the cost an upset if she was worse over the christmas weekend. Shock

I am in the same position with my dog. He has not eaten since Monday evening (eek, that sounds like a long time ago doesn't it - but it is actually only two feeds he has missed). DH thinks I am over reacting but I too keep thinking that it is a 4 day weekend and he could have starved to death by next week. He will eat other things though, like the bread I was putting out for the birds, and his boneo biscuit. He had a made up tea on Monday night as I had people round for lunch and they stayed until the evening so I did not get to the pet shop to buy his food. He may just be holding out for more gravy...

Personally, I think animals know to lay off the food if they have an upset stomach. Try her with the tempting treats and if she still won't eat, phone the vet for advice.

Cheese flavoured dreamies are the business and she licked the whiskas so I can relax a wee bit.
