Has anyone got any advice about Feliway please?

FABCat is poorly with hyperestesia, kidney failure and arthritis. I am taking her to the vet tomorrow as she has been ripping up paper and went for me. The vet has said I could try it with FABCat. She is currently sat next to me trying to ignore the fireworks going off.

Sorry to hear about fabcat :(

I would try the feliway, but vets are also selling something called KalmAid which I wouldbe using as well as the Feliway. Its a liquid for cats or dogs, they also do a gel just for cats. Apparently it works in 60-90 minutes to de-stress them. Its about £16 from the vet, so not too bad.
they do a tablet called Zylkene which is the same kind of thing, you could maybe buy a couple of tablets to try if your vet sells single ones?
let us know how you go.

What about this

Fluffycloudland77 · 04/11/2011 20:46

Can she have catnip spray? Chills my cat out like he's stoned.

SparklyCloud · 04/11/2011 20:47

Cheaper here

TheOriginalFAB · 04/11/2011 20:51

That looks great, thank you.

She used to have cat nip powder but isn't bothered now. She is getting on and sleeps more and more.

I've got the plug in, tbh, I've no idea if it works...but I figure it won't do any harm, lol

Not quite Feliway but...I've got a DAP diffuser in for the dog at the moment and he has completely ignored tonight's fireworks and the text alert on DS's phone and gone to sleep on his bed. This is the first time I've used a DAP with him and on previous firework tonights he has tried to get under our bath his fear has been so great. I really cannot believe the difference in him so fingers crossed Feliway does the same for your cat.

She actually did okay in the end. I cuddled her under a blanket and talked to her every time there was a bang. She has ripped up loads of paper over night but that could be because she was in pain rather than scared. I am taking her to the vet this afternoon for a check up and probably a steroid shot.

how did she go on at the vet?

TheOriginalFAB · 05/11/2011 16:12

She jumped in pain when he examined her which made him jump. Poor thing Sad. I have been told to double her medication and to give her a week. If she doesn't improve I have to ring him. There is an off label injection she could have once a week for 4 weeks but that would cause her to deteriotate quickly Sad. This week is crucial.

The feliway is in and she has had a sit down by it.

Thanks for asking.

You are certainly doing all anyone could possibly be doing for their cat :)
Hope this week goes ok, let us know.

Thank you. I have a very long thread titled I am worrying about my cat and I can't believe I started it in April. Christmas in 6 weeks and I have no idea if she will be here. I am enjoying each day she is here. We just did some low bang fireworks for the kids and I put the tv on, the lights, shut all the doors and the curtains and spied on her. She seemed fine Smile but when we had finished I came in and she has hidden herself between 2 chairs Sad. Hopefully she will come and sit next to me soon. Once she does, I will know she is okay.
