Forgive the apparent absurdity of this message but ... We have a young female cat that we'd like to responsibly have 1 litter of kittens before being neutered* The vet has advised us to find a happy healthy male vs letting her choose herself (from the cue of Tom cats outside our window!!). Anybody local to the area with a suitable happy healthy chap up for the job? She is just a pretty moggy, so a pro breeder isn't really an answer as I dont think they mate ordinary cats (who said the class system was dead??). Blimey I knew finding a decent guy in London was tough- but not for kitties!!
*Before the lectures start, we have prospective adopters lined up and the cats I have had in the past who were allowed 1 litter then sayed were happier than those who were spayed straight away,so please don't bombard me about filling the world with unwanted cats. We will have her done straight after 1 litter. Thank you.

Ffs @underthestarrysky why would you resurrect a 6 year old thread? Angry

ZOMBIE ZOMBIE ZOMBIE
These cats are in the past. If kittens were produced they are now fast approaching middle age. I assume this was resurrected to start a bun fight and I was all set to wade in but luckily noticed it all kicked off in 2011. Well done @understarrysky .

the problem for you coming in here and saying you want to breed your girl cat with one litter is that a lot of us on here actually work for or have a lot of contact with rescues,

i see the results of oh let her have one litter every day as i work for a rescue, just last week we had two moms with fifteens kittens between them come in on sunday,

a litter of five kittens from a farm come in on saturday and three adult cats dumped in carriers at the gate on the friday night,

this is one weekend , yes you may have homes for your potential kittens but what if your cat has say three female kittens and all your potential adopters think like you , ooh think i will let my female cat have one litter so thats potentially another nine female kittens been born, go on a few generations and your one cats litter could start a potential for hundreds of kittens being born, will they all have homes to got to , probably not.

I'd be amazed if in these DISCUSSIONS WITH THE VET, the vet said anything other than there was no reason why a healthy young cat could expect a good outcome from a pregnancy.

There is no health benefit to having a litter (though usually no penalty either) and no predictable effect on behaviour.

And yes, Battersea often has a queue for kittens, but it's not the only place in/around London where rescue cats can be applied for. And did you know it has a 'kill' policy because it has more cats (and sometimes kittens) than it can home?

Sorry - read/skimmed the thread before some of the more obvious zombie-warning additions were there.

I wish MNHQ would actually bloody listen to MNers who say there needs to be a clearer zombie indicator, or all threads to be locked (only reanimated by the OP) after a certain period.
