I don't know why I'm sharing this except it has been such a surprise. I found my cat the other morning with a cut on her mouth but no other apparent injury. Well we cleaned her up but it soon became obvious she was not getting better, I now realise she had become really dehydrated as she wasn't drinking. We took her to the vet where they had to first rehydrate her and then operate to remove a broken tooth and two damaged ones. But surprisingly she also had a badly bruised and lacerated tongue.

A look over the garden fences has revealed one of our neighbours has been putting rat traps down - we are pretty sure that the cat got her mouth/tongue snapped in a spring trap. The vet says she is lucky to have got out of it/survived!

Well from this I have learnt, always take your cat to the vet straightaway if they are injured, and that they can very soon get dehydrated if they don't drink for a day or two, (which was NOT in my RSPCA cat book Hmm) and that curiosity did indeed nearly kill the cat. Has anyone else had this happen?
