OMFG - my new cat has been taught to piddle in the bath!!!!

We thought it was just weird that he'd had a few 'accidents' in the bathroom but I just caught him sitting in the bath, arse over the plughole, piddling down the plughole Shock

We have been keeping the loo seats down thinking he might drink out the loos but perhaps we should leave them up if he has been trained to use the facilities? Confused

I am now torn between absolute revulsion and gratitude. Grin

He's a bengal, he seems remarkably smart. We'll have to see what other little habits develop Hmm

I should add we are his fourth home - he's a rescue cat so we don't quite know what he's learned.

Grin - I knew this was you from your FB - but this description is even better than the FB one Grin Grin

Grin

Clever boy!

whomovedmychocolate · 10/03/2011 21:11

He was really squatting down over the plughole and backing towards it like he wanted to not spill any and to his credit he got nearly all of it down without it hitting the porcelain. Hmm Grin

Oh wow Envy.

My old rescue moggie never even got the hang of the litter box. Clearly you have an altogether higher class of rescue than we do.

AIBU to want a bengal next time round? Grin

SecretNutellaFix · 10/03/2011 21:11

My mothers Tortie does it down drains. Every single time.

MrsChemist · 10/03/2011 21:14

My parent's cat would squat in the bathroom sink and piss down the plughole.

BaroqueAroundTheClock · 10/03/2011 21:14

I was very relieved that my rescue moggy not only immdiately found the litter tray and used it............but also managed to find it when DS3 decided it would be jolly good fun to play "hiding" with the litter tray and put it upstairs Hmm.

whomovedmychocolate · 10/03/2011 21:19

ecobatty - they are VERY loud - please think seriously before taking one on. And very, very smart. They can open the fridge themselves etc. But the loudness and the insistence on attention is very distinctive to the breed. They will push a cup of hot coffee in your lap if you are ignoring them etc. Mine likes to climb up and sit on the ceiling beams and then leap onto my laptop.

I had a cat that would wee in the utility sink. Noone had taught her this she just did it. I know noone had taught her as she was born here!
Unfortunately she was killed on the road at 7 months old. None of the other cats ever learnt to do it.

you can buy something to teach your cat to use the toilet here

whomovedmychocolate · 10/03/2011 21:37

I LOVE that litter kwitter - I have to buy one Grin

Do they supply a version for pissed husbands?

Oh. I'll have to go back to lusting after a savannah then. Can't be having with vocal cats. Dh used to have a siamese who could wake a deaf man at a hundred paces...

Having said that, my moggie is not exactly what you would call quiet. And believe me, when it comes to not smart, it beats any kind of smart in terms of annoyance factor (no, he can't open the fridge, but you just cannot imagine the havoc he can wreck trying...or possibly trying to go outside through the fridge door, you never can tell).

theyoungvisiter · 10/03/2011 22:11

Whomoved - are you now worried about all the baths that you've taken before you discovered this?! Grin

Clever cat though! That's more toilet trained than DS1 on a bad day.

DooinMeCleanin · 10/03/2011 22:13

Mine does this. Since we now have taps with handles he also turns on the tap to help himself to fresh water. Water from a bowl is simply not good enough Hmm. He doesn't turn it off after himself though Angry

Maelstrom · 10/03/2011 22:13

Do they flush? or am I asking too much?

ThisIsANiceCage · 10/03/2011 22:18
cece · 10/03/2011 22:21

My rescue cat used to do that too.

ImeldaM · 11/03/2011 08:59

My cat does this too, its ok, at least easy to clean, not so good when she does a poo there though Angry She is very slim and vocal & i definately think has some siamese in her background.

ThisIsANiceCage · 11/03/2011 10:33

Poo, that link's died.

I think the original is here, or search on YouTube for "He's a cat flushing the toilet."

piratecat · 11/03/2011 10:34

awwwww a bengal!! put the loo seat up and see if he does.

youtube cats having a wee on the loo it's very funny, there is one that flushes!!!

piratecat · 11/03/2011 10:38

oops should have read the before posts.

there's a ginger on there who is so cute.

piratecat · 11/03/2011 10:40

My darling Pixie, who died of feline leukemia just over a year ago, was a Tortie and had siamese in her too. She was wonderful. Vocal and smart, but very gentle.

She was only one.

Fluffycloudland77 · 11/03/2011 15:12

Mines a Bengal, did a wee on the worktop when he forgot he has a litter tray. When I was serving dinner across the kitchen. Sigh.

He tips glasses of water over for fun and opens the under bed drawers to take a nap on my nice new bedlinen.

I will have one again when the time comes.

whomovedmychocolate · 11/03/2011 18:24

I just bought him a catnip ball - it's literally a ball made out of catnip. He's currently off his face staring at the outside lights like a stoner! Grin

And luckily we are currently selling our house so the bath gets a good clean daily!

Please can you get a check up for him at the vet - this could be a sign of cystitis.
