Keep your fingers crossed for me please!

And watch this space.

In about an hour I'm going to be taking possession of a little white cat. She's unspayed Shock, unvaccinated Shock and "doesn't get on with her kittens" any more, so the owner Freecycled her. :( The owner offered me the poor moggy on the strength of one email consisting of about 3 sentences from me... I could be taking the cat as bait for fighting dogs for all she knows or cares! Angry :(

I'll be having her spayed and vaxed and then getting to know her before I rehome her on a rescue contract. I usually do dog rescue but this is the fourth cat which has come my way recently - the first I intended only to foster when she arrived 3 or so months ago, but she's turned into a permanent member of the family.

There's every chance that this little cat is deaf (as is the one I took on as my own recently) but I'm hoping not. I don't even know her age yet or her state of health.

Perhaps I should be asking you all to keep your fingers crossed for HER please.

I'll update later this evening and will eventually post her details here with a view to finding her a permanent home. When I do she will go out on a rescue contract, with potential owners homechecked and with a written agreement that she will come back to me if the owner cannot keep her at any stage of her life. She won't be homed to families with small children and will be spayed, vaxed, wormed, deflead, assessed and health-checked by a vet.

It makes me cross... I can do this for the poor cat so why the feck can't the current owner at least spay and vaccinate her and go through rescue, not Freecycle, to find her a safe home? Angry

Unfortunately Vallhala people don't have the patience to do it. I don't understand it myself, I couldn't imagine releasing my girls to anyone unless I knew they were going to be safe. Even then I probably couldn't part with them - I can't count the sacrifices I have made for my 2 cats. I struggle to put them in a cattery while I go away as I know how upset they get and how angry they are when I get back.

Good luck for your new kitty - I hope you find it a new home soon.

Oh at least she is coming to you! Good luck!

Oh my she is beautiful! Small and delicate, very oriental to look at, all pointy face, big ears, long limbs and sleek coat. She's only about 8 months old, just a kitten herself and yet already been bred from. Angry

She's also covered in fleas "She was de-flead a month ago" my arse!) and is absolutely PETRIFIED of everything and anything.

I'm SO glad that my rescue colleague went and collected her and not me... I may have ended up at her majesty's pleasure had I met the piggin' owner.

She'll come round in time and make a perfect pet but at present I could weep for her. :(

Little madam is slowly coming round but it will take some time to get there properly. She will come out of hiding with a little persuasion when I or my 15 yo DD are alone with her but not together and won't move from under furniture when the other cats or my dogs are about.

When she does appear she is gentle and affectionate, seeking cuddles and purring. I'm having a hell of a job persuading her to eat though and she's as thin as a rake. :(

How can people do this? Our much loved rescue Maine Coon (who has doubled in size since his arrival) is slumped next to me on the sofa purring and having his tummy rubbed. Smile
