cat keeps vomiting

Have vets appointment tonight.

One of my cats, age 11, dsh, otherwise in perfect health, keeps being sick.

She is a very sicky cat anyway and despite daily brushing gets furballs. This is something else though, every day for the past week she has been sick at least twice. Can't see any furballs in the sick.

She's not behaving like she's ill and her fur is perfect. She usually looks ill when there's something wrong with her and hides away.

Does anyone have any ideas what's wrong with her, or have any ideas as to what I can do to stop her vomiting eg special foods.

Thanks

Hi, have had exactly same problem with same age cat. Vet says he has become intolerant to his food (After examining him for obvious nasties) and put him on chicken and rice Royal Canin food for a week - very plain, cat fine therefore proving it was food not anything else. So far so good BUT Royal Canin far too expensive to use every day after initial period so now experimenting to find something that suits him. Also, my SIL is a nutritionist and gives her cats some sort of probiotic powder to boost their guts as had similar problem and said is really working, so you could ask vet about that. Good luck!

Hope all went ok with the cat :)

I would have her teeth checked as one of our cats who is 6.5 was constantly being sick a while back and losing weight. Turned out she had two poorly teeth so wasnt crunching her biscuits and swallowing whole which in turn swelled up and so she was sick.

Thanks.

MrsEric - vet thinks nothing really wrong, probably a few furballs. Gave her an antinausea injection and have the Royal Canin food. Have to mix feline version of gaviscon into her food for a few days too!

Vet suggested trying senior cat food too as the normal food might have too much protein for her to digest.

I've not heard of probiotic powder for cats, will look into it.

Our sick-y cat has Iams hairball food and that cuts it down a bit. Hope yours is better soon.

My cat would vomit alot and twice, so if you found one pile you would find another. Hers was food related. The science plan from the vets was the worst. The vet said some cats are sicky. I had the royal canine reccomended to me. I didn't try it as she had kidney failure by then and strangely had no problem keeping chicken breast down.
