Scratchy cat and a baby on the way.

Just looking for a little bit of advice. I've got 2 cats one of which is a scratcher. She plays with her claws out, she walks across you with her claws out and she randomly scratches for attention. This doesn't really bother me or the OH but I'm 35 weeks pregnant and I'm worried she's going to hurt baby albeit unintentionally.

The obvious answer is to trim her claws but this is something I once did to my other cat and accidently hurt her and have not done it since. I just am not comfortable hurting my cat because of my clumsiness.

I have no intention of going near my well behaved cats claws because she only ever has her claws out on her scratching post. I was wondering if there was anywhere I could take my cat to get her claws trimmed by someone who knows what they're doing. I thought about grooming places but they only seem to do dogs. Any other suggestions?

Before you take her to have her claws done, see how she reacts to your baby.

We have one lovely old lady who always plays nicely and a evil little bugger (who I do love dearly) who will not only oplay with claws but randomly pounce on you and attack you.

We were really worried about him when DD was due, but he just gives her a wide berth and really has no interest in her at all. He has scratched her a couple of times in the last couple of months, she is now 15 months and into everything, but this is only when she has attacked him when he is sleeping on the chair (which we do generally try to prevent) and to be honest as soon as he's realised who it is he just gets out of her reach and settles again.

Thank you newbee, that is reassuring. I would be really pleased if that is the case with mine. It's nice to know that she might just keep her claws to attacking me. :)
