Loose stools - could it be new diet?

Hello, I've been lurking around here a lot recently as I've just got two beautiful rescue cats - mum and her young boy. We've only had them since Saturday but the mum has had quite loose stools - do you think it could be the food? She seems otherwise very well. The rescue place said both cats are unfussy and to feed them wet food at one meal and dry at the next. Any ideas very much appreciated!

It might just be the change of food? Might be worth monitoring for a few days and see what happens but if she's eating it's probably nothing to worry about.

When our boys have problems we usually make sure there is lots of water and revert to feeding them boiled chicken and rice until it clears up. We also make sure the litter tray is super clean - they tend to use the garden but there have been times when they have had runny bums, used the litter tray alot and, err, been a bit messy which I can't imagine is good for upset tums...

Had they been checked out by the rescue centre before you picked them up/were their vaccinations up to date/had they been wormed/flea-ed etc.? If not it might be worth taking them to the vet anyway and you could get the loose stools checked out at the same time?

Thanks for the advice Teds. They've had their vaccines and a vet check when they went to the rescue centre - they've been there since end of Oct.

Thanks Larahusky, things seem to be improving thank goodness. She is very well, enjoying her food and settling in. It's a bit like having a newborn baby again though, I am worrying about every little thing Grin
